Rising Star a Shaw thing
9.35AM  21-8-2012

Adelaide defender Sam Shaw has earned the Round 21 Rising Star award nomination for his 22 disposals in their 10-point loss to Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.

Shaw had 21 kicks and one handball at the 'Gabba - his highest possession tally in 10 career games - as he looks to sew up his spot in the Crows' back six as they head into September with a likely double-chance spot in the top-four.

The shock loss to the Lions was just Shaw's second taste of defeat in his short career since he debuted against Greater Western Sydney in Round 4 this year.

Shaw joins fellow defender Daniel Talia as Adelaide nominations for the Ron Evans Medal, with Talia one of the favourites to claim the honour.

Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup in 2009, Shaw was picked up by the Crows with selection 45 in the National Draft.

Shaw has secured his future in South Australia until the end of the 2014 season.
