Whose left? We look ahead to the Pre Season and Rookie draft

With the NAB 2012 AFL Draft now behind us, attention turns to the Pre Season and Rookie Drafts and the players available.
After taking out all those selected last Thursday night, AFL clubs are left to pick over the pieces and hopefully uncover a few hidden gems.

Dylan ALICE
Ltyentye Apurte (NT)
DOB: 24/11/93. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 79kg.
He is a rural kid from the community at Santa Teresa – which is about 90km east of Alice Springs. He is a medium defender/forward who has good leg speed and athleticism. He is good on both sides of his body and worked hard since the end of the season to get himself ready for the combine. – Wally Gallio, Northern Territory talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Aliir ALIIR
Aspley
DOB: 5/9/94. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 82kg.
Aliir is a Sudanese boy who has only been playing the game for three or four years but has shown a lot of development. He is athletic with a good vertical jump and is good around the ground. He needs to improve his strength and power so that he can become a key position player at the next level. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Nick AMATO
North Adelaide
DOB: 15/10/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 74kg.
Nick came through the state under 18 program and played in the carnival early before missing out on the final two games in Melbourne. He’s an inside midfielder who can play small forward, wins his own footy and is a neat left foot kick. He’s very competitive, has a great work ethic and just does everything possible to make it to the next level. – Darryl Wintle, North Adelaide football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Luke ANDREWS
Box Hill Hawks
DOB: 22/1/91. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 73kg.
Only a little fellow, but he's as uncompromising as a prison wall and one of the VFL's best clearance players in the Hawks midfield. Was the first-picked player by season's end, with coach Damian Carroll calling him the Hawks' “barometer”. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jordan ANGUS
Calder Cannons
DOB: 27/4/93. Ht: 203cm. Wt: 109kg
At 203cm and 105kg, there isn’t too may of his type around. He was an overage player with us this year and did pretty well in the ruck. He marks the ball OK and is a decent kick and really jumps at the centre bounces. He could be a rookie chance but I suspect that he may end up missing out unfortunately. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Brayden ANTONIO
West Perth
DOB: 9/8/94. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 64kg.
Brayden is a half forward and if I had to pick a player he was like it would be Troy Longmuir in that he’s a left footer and he’s got tricks. A beautiful kick who got knocked out in the first half of in his first senior game but bounced back to kick three goals after half time which showed great character. He’s a skinny kid who is developing but just a jack-of-all-trades with some tricks. A booming left foot kick with terrific goal sense. – Gerry O’Dea, West Perth chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Matthew APPLETON
Woodville-West Torrens
DOB: 14/2/93. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 72kg.
Matthew is a ball winning midfielder who won the medal for best player on the ground in the Grand Final, which is what Lachie Neale did last year for Glenelg and ended up getting taken by Fremantle. He had 38 touches and 16 clearances in the GF so he might be rookie listed on that. – Shane Grimm, Woodville-West Torrens talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Darcy BAILEY
Calder Cannons
DOB: 20/6/94. Ht: 175cm. Wt: 74kg.
Son of former Melbourne coach and Essendon player, Dean. Darcy is a very smart player who always makes the right decisions. His pace is a bit of query and at 175cm he is pretty small. He is extremely clever and quick with his hands and footy nous though. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Steven BALDASSO
Norwood
DOB: 10/10/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 73kg.
Steve went to the draft camp after being part of the state under 18 squad of 40. Would have been picked for the final three games of the national carnival except he hurt his quad and didn’t play. An outside midfielder who is very light at this stage but has outstanding agility, really good ball user but aerobically still has a fair bit to work on. Played most of the year in our under 18s and a handful of reserves games and when you watch him you see some things that are great but there needs to be more of it. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Jacob BALLARD
Northern Knights
DOB: 26/2/94. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 82kg.
Jacob’s been a real improver this season after originally appearing on the radar in the under 16s. Was also a keen basketballer so spent some time pursuing that but came back to footy and is a really good size and shape for a big onballer – a really strong, athletic body. Worked up from being a defender a few years ago to a starting Vic Metro onballer this year. Really hard at it, a good tackler, can use it both sides hand and foot but does need to improve his kicking a touch. – Anthony Allen, Northern Knights coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Cameron BANFIELD
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 1/2/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 74kg.
He’s quick with good lateral movement as a running half back. He uses the ball well on either side of his body, is poised and probably has the most AFL upside of any of our boys. He’s certainly got plenty of scope for improvement. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Michael BARNES
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 22/1/94. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 73kg.
Inside midfielder who attacks the footy hard and is clean below his knees. His kicking is untidy but it’s not diabolical. He led our defensive and pressure acts this season quite easily and his tackling is what AFL clubs are looking for in the forward half. I think in time he can develop. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Kory BEARD
Port Magpies
DOB: 13/6/90. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 93kg.
Kory played centre half back for us and finished fourth in our senior best and fairest in 2012. Still needs to develop as a young man and a leader but there’s some potential there and I think one or two clubs have shown some interest. – Brian Leys, Port Magpies general manger.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie

Jonathon BEECH
West Adelaide
DOB: 9/11/90. Ht: 187cm. Wt: 85kg.
Jonathon is a wing/half forward type who is versatile player, good overhead and has been in our system for a while. Has played 67 senior games and has really matured in recent seasons with us. Sound player who is very consistent. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Josh BENCH
Western Jets
DOB: 24/11/94. Ht: 171cm. Wt: 65kg.
I’d love to see Josh get drafted given the way he plays. He won our best and fairest and while he’s only 171cm he’s got brilliant agility, brilliant speed and just knows how to play the game because he’s a natural footballer. If you look at his You Tube highlights you’ll see what sort of player he is. – Torin Baker, Western Jets coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Brendan BENO
Bougainville (PNG)
DOB: 10/8/94. Ht: 170cm. Wt: 62kg.
Brendan was an international scholarship holder with the Brisbane Lions but they haven’t re-signed him at the minute. His testing was pretty good – he ran a 2.93 in the 20m sprint and projects as a small forward at AFL level and good evasive skills. He was a little bit behind the eight ball compared with Gideon Simon, one day when he was travelling from home to play in PNG, he got a bus, a boat, another bus and then walked barefoot for six hours to get the ground! – Michael Ablett, AFL academy talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Fred BEYTELL
Norwood
DOB: 24/3/94. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 181kg.
He is a rebounding defender who is very fast, carries the ball well from defence and is a long, powerful 60m kick He was in the state under 18 squad but didn’t get a game. He played midfield in the trials but he is definitely a defender. He played in the Norwood reserves towards the end of the year and played in the Grand final. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tyler BLAKE
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 21/3/94. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 76kg.
Tyler was one of a few players who played every game for Vic Country, which is a good achievement for a boy in his first year in the program. He is a very attacking player and uses his pace and spread very well. When he is on song he is very hard to stop and certainly has some good attributes. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Myles BOLGER
South Fremantle
DOB: 25/3/93. Ht: 201cm. Wt: 90kg.
Miles is a developing ruck prospect who missed out in the draft last year which was a slight surprise considering a lack of genuine rucks. He didn’t have a great year at all with recurring hamstring problems so he didn’t get a good run at it. He didn’t play a great deal due to these issues and we were a touch surprised he was invited to the combine. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Anthony BONNADIO
Northern Knights
DOB: 6/1/94. Ht: 174cm. Wt: 73kg.
Went to the state screening but only played one national championship game for NT. Sat out of footy last year because of some personal problems after being on the radar the year before as a small forward. Plays best as a high forward who can kick a long goal and that’s his forte rather than the snap goal. A roughie for a rookie list perhaps, – Anthony Allen, Northern Knights coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Andrew BOSTON
Broadbeach
DOB: 23/3/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 75kg.
Very skilful young midfielder and wingman whose kicking is his number one attribute. He is also very smart around goals and played mainly in that forward role with Broadbeach this year kicking bags of five and six goals. He leg speed is OK without being overly quick and needs to improve his tank a bit but he reads the play really well and makes good decisions. The Suns are a good chance to keep him as a zone player. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Queensland Zone Selection, Gold Coast Suns

Jordon BOURKE
Morningside
DOB: 11/11/94. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 83kg.
Son of former Cat Damian, but Geelong has decided not to nominate him as a father son. He is a quick, athletic tall who takes a strong contested mark. At times he can spray them in front of goal but he has a big upside and in an AFL system could be a big improver. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Jaye BOWDEN
Glenorchy
DOB: 16/1/89. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 77kg.
Won the best and fairest at Glenorchy this season and has been in the system for a few years so clubs are well aware of him. Took his footy to another level this year as an inside midfielder and his ability to win the ball in tight contests and dispose of it was a highlight. He is an excellent kick and a good shot for goal. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Chase BOWER
Norwood
DOB: 22/3/94. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 79kg.
Chase has been unlucky in his football so far because he’s been cut from the state teams in under 15, 16, 17 and 18 in each of the past four years a week before the squad has been finalised. Played reserves footy for us both last year and this year and plays as a second defender who is very fast and a reasonably good kick. Just a good defender and that is rare in kids footy but he does need to work on his ground balls. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jesse BOYD
Calder Cannons
DOB: 29/1/94. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 86kg.
Plays like an old fashioned follower as he isn’t quite tall enough to be a ruckman. His strength is his contested marking but will need to develop into a key position player if he is to press on to AFL level. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Emmett BRADLEY
Derry (Ireland)
DOB: 20/2/93. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 83kg.
He was super at the combine and reminded me a little bit of Marty Clarke, maybe a bit slimmer. He runs and moves well. He ran a 2.97 in the 20m sprint and was in the top five percent in the agility test. He has a nice mix of speed and endurance and his ball handling is very good as well. He is a likely type and is a rookie chance for sure. – Michael Ablett, AFL academy talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Matthew BRETT
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 2/8/94. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 79kg.
Came out of nowhere this year. Hasn’t been involved in the Bushies system before but he came from local footy and got better through pre-season. He is a medium sized, forward/defender and had a great start to the season. He is super-competitive, aggressive and holds his own. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushrangers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Ashlin BROWN
Western Jets
DOB: 23/4/94. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 86kg.
To be fair to Ashlin will find it tough to get drafted simply because he’s an in between height for the key forward role and maybe lacks the ground level game to play small forward. What he does have though is outstanding character and a really strong set of hands for a forward. Kicks the ball 50 metres and is just one of the most professional kids I’ve come across. – Torin Baker, Western Jets coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ben BROWN
Glenorchy
DOB: 20/11/92. Ht: 198cm. Wt: 89kg.
Ruckman/tall forward who was overlooked last year but had a decent year with Glenorchy. The question on him was his ability to overcome injuries as he battled over the past few years but he was injury free in 2012 and some clubs have shown interest. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Billy BURSTIN
Port Melbourne
DOB: 2/12/89. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 91kg.
This year the left-footer found a consistency to go with his obvious talent as a sure-marking third tall forward. His best puts him in the VFL's elite. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Liam BYRNE
Bendigo Pioneers
DOB: 4/11/94. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 83kg.
Has only played footy for two years and was another who got injured (wrist) during the year. Up until then though, he was a standout for us. He dominated games, breaking the lines and his upside is super-dooper. – Ray Byrne, Bendigo Pioneers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Mack BYRON-PENDERGAST
East Fremantle
DOB: 14/2/94. Ht: 203cm. Wt: 80kg.
Mack’s one of our developing talls we’ve got and he’s come on in leaps and bounds in the second half of this year. Got good agility and mobility for his size so he’ll attract some interest for sure. Very dedicated and is a very good exponent of ruckwork as well as getting around the ground very well. – Adam Kelly, East Fremantle chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Daniel CAIRE
West Adelaide
DOB: 7/5/88. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 78kg.
Daniel has been in our system for some time (played 125 senior games) and was runner-up in the best and fairest this year. A small defender who is a strong rebounder, can run and carry and is very good one-on-one. He could hold his own in an AFL games in my opinion. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jake CALVERT
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 30/5/93. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 93kg.
Jake played as a 19-year-old and he’s a six-foot three tall, strong-bodied hit-up forward. Had some injury problems last season but came to prominence and really developed and improved this year and I reckon he’s a very good rookie chance. If that doesn’t eventuate he’ll be a really good VFL player and still will get an opportunity down the track to get into the AFL system. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Corey CHALMERS
West Perth
DOB: 24/11/94. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 80kg.
Corey is a clever player who is someone we’ve played basically as a half forward and occasionally through the midfield. Stepped up to our reserves footy at the end of the year and we tried him out of the back pocket to improve his defensive side but for a kid who was always one of the best players coming through the juniors, he looked really comfortable down back. Takes his man on, is not frightened to take to run off and has some x-factor with his pace. – Gerry O’Dea, West Perth chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie

Jack CHARLESTON
Williamstown
DOB: 9/1/93. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 83kg.
Like his team Charleston finished the season in a hurry. The Western Jets' 2011 best and fairest played mostly in defence and stood out for his tenacity, courage and commitment as much as his shock of blonde hair. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Dylan CLARKE
Subiaco
DOB: 21/3/94. Ht: 175cm. Wt: 60kg.
Dylan is a smallish wingman who has got the most exquisite skills you would ever see off the left side. Kicks goals from outside 50 regularly and is a prolific stat winner. Played about 17 Colts games, three in the reserves and played a senior match. Came to us from Kalgoorlie and had played senior footy there and I reckon he’d be a fantastic pick for a club as a rookie. – Jeff Lind, Subiaco talent and development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie

Scott CLARKE
Western Magpies
DOB: 7/5/90. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 84kg.
Tall utility that played most of the season with the Brisbane Lions reserves and was impressive at times. Can play at either end and has good athleticism for a player his size. Some clubs have been showing interest in him. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Mitch CLISBY
North Adelaide
DOB: 5/1/90. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 75kg.
Mitch is a 22-year-old who has been with us for four years now and continued to improve. Had another solid year and finished fourth in the best and fairest playing as a quick rebounding half-back/wingman who is a very good mid-range kick of the ball. Probably upped his draft value with a great finals series in which he had three of his better games for the year. – Darryl Wintle, North Adelaide football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Scott CLOUSTON
Redland
DOB: 2/2/87. Ht: 191cm. Wt: 84kg.
Scott is a former Brisbane rookie who had a fantastic year kicking close to 60 goals at centre half forward. He has taken up to 20 marks a game in some matches for Redland and is a great mark and a thumping kick. We know what he can do, it's just a case of him taking the next step. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Adam COCKIE
Sandringham
DOB: 18/4/89. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 85kg.
Bull of a midfielder who, like Myke Cook, is chasing a second chance after he had a handful of games for West Coast. Not quick, but is a tackling machine and a crack clearance player and impressed this year in the VFL. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jackson COLEMAN
Sandringham
DOB: 18/12/91. Ht: 196cm. Wt: 92kg.
The son of former league forward Glenn “Galaxy” Coleman was a Victorian fast-bowling prospect before opting to focus on football. Played eight senior games for the Zebras, slotting five goals against Bendigo. But some at Sandy think he has the makings of a nice centre half back. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Brian COLEMAN-BROOME
Morningside
DOB: 9/4/94. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 79kg.
Very skilful small forward/defender whose skills below his knees are his main strength. He never fumbles, and at times it appears that he has velcro on his hands. He is very quick over the first 10 metres and is an exciting young prospect. He is very much in the mould of a Jeff Garlett in the way that he plays. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sam COLLINS
Oakleigh Chargers
DOB: 15/6/94. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 87kg.
Sam’s shown enormous improvement this season. A strong key defender who has a great ability to leap and mark the ball and can pinch-hit in the ruck at times. Has great agility, has a strong body and is a genuine key defender. – Justin Wenke, Oakleigh Chargers coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Sam COLQUHOUN
Central Districts
DOB: 20/12/94. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 72kg.
He’s a wingman/half back with good skills but maybe his leg speed is a touch questionable but he’s got plenty of good attributes. Was formerly a good junior cricketer with the state under 17 side and he’s only really taken footy seriously over the past 12 months. Has elite fitness and plays that peel off half back role beautifully. There are clubs that were jumping all over him early but he didn’t do the testing because he played in our reserves premiership side this year. – Scott Stevens, Central District development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd round.

Myke COOK
Sandringham
DOB: 9/10/89. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 80kg.
With his pace and strength the former Adelaide Crow gave the Zebras a good first season, coming third in the best and fairest. There have been queries on his kicking, but it looked no great weakness. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Mitch CRAWFORD
Pennant Hills
DOB: 29/6/94. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 73kg.
Utility type who can play midfield, forward or back and wins his own ball both inside and out. Played quite well as a forward late in the year kicking multiple goals. NSW Scholarship holder at the Swans. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Joseph CURRAN
Oakleigh Chargers
DOB: 21/5/94. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 93kg.
Joey unfortunately had a stress fracture in his foot so didn’t play the last eight games of the season. A medium defender who has the ability to play on talls and smalls and he uses the ball really well – I think he had a 75% disposal efficiency over the year which is pretty good going. A great competitor one-on-one who was in our leadership group and we actually really missed him in the finals because he was the sort of player who could have shut someone down. If he gets himself a little bit fitter we think he has AFL attributes. – Justin Wenke, Oakleigh Chargers coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Simon DEERY
Gippsland Power
DOB: 18/9/93. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 84kg.
Simon is a key position prospect with a great frame. I was stunned that he hadn’t been drafted prior to me getting to the club. He had a really good year and probably had six really good games before getting injured. When he went off injured in the Grand Final it turned the game a bit. To me he reminds me of Jarrad Waite. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Lachlan DELAHUNTY
Frankston
DOB: 26/10/90. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 85kg.
Tall left-foot wingman who was listed with Bendigo Bombers for three years but, unable to get a game, played most of his football at Noble Park. Made the switch to the Dolphins this year and thrived, tidying up his kicking and marking everything that came his way. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Chris DELUCA
Subiaco
DOB: 12/9/94. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 87kg.
Chris is a strongly built small forward who played about 10 senior games this year. Very much an inside player who loves to win contested footy and does it well. Can kick a goal and can apply some pressure around the forwardline. Would need to learn more about footy to push into the midfield but that will come in time. – Jeff Lind, Subiaco talent and development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tullio DEMATTEIS
Norwood
DOB: 12/5/94. Ht: 184. Wt: 72kg.
Tullio went to Rostrevor College so mixed footy between school and us. When with us he played everything from league trials, reserves games, under 18s, state games and 12 school matches so he was everywhere. Hs good straight line speed, is good aerobically, is a good ball carrier and can his agility is OK. Needs to work on his consistency and staying in the game for long periods because his stuff is always good there’s not enough of it. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ben DUSCHER
Bendigo
DOB: 29/9/87. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 83kg.
The Bendigo skipper and ace midfielder finished runner-up in the best and fairest despite playing only 12 matches. Has a lot of fans, but at 25 he needs an opportunity. Combines football with full-time work as a chippie. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Ajdin ELKASOVIC
Western Jets
DOB: 6/4/94. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 73kg.
Ajdin’s a really elusive utility sort of player who played back and forward for us and later in the year player on-ball. Has really converted himself from an outside player to winning a high percentage of contested ball. Has super pace and is really agile. – Western Jets coach Torin Baker.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Ryan EXON
Oakleigh Chargers
DOB: 8/1/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 75kg.
Skippered the Chargers this year and is a really good leader. Gut-running midfielder with good leg speed. Played 21 games this season and was amongst the best players on 15 occasions. – Mark Smart, Oakleigh Chargers region manager.

Matt FARRELLY
Echuca
DOB: 7/1/93. Ht: 187cm. Wt: 80kg.
Rebounding half back who is your classic late developer. He was outstanding in the VFL Young Guns game and there has been some interest from clubs. He has a defensive first mindset, but then runs and carries off half back and really puts on the after burners. He was coached by ex-Demon Simon Eishold last year and has really benefitted. – Trevor Mellington, AFL Victoria region development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tom FIELDS
Labrador
DOB: 19/12/92. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 84kg.
Son of former Bomber Neville, who was overlooked last year as a father/son by Essendon. He is a surgeon on his left foot and rarely misses a target. He played centre half back for Labrador all season and wasn't beaten often. He ran a 2.85 20-metre sprint at the combine and he ticks quite a few boxes. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Aaron FIELKE
West Adelaide
DOB: 14/11/88. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 80kg.
Aaron is a cousin of Grant who played for the Adelaide Crows. A mid-sized half forward/back/onball type who’s played 74 senior games for us. A smart player who polled 29 votes in our best and fairest count to finish fourth and played every game in 2012. He’s a rough chance to be picked up. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Liam FLAHERTY
Eastlake
DOB: 14/11/93. Ht: 194cm. Wt: 87kg.
Nineteen year old who played as an over-ager at the national championships. Can play key back or key forward but also played on the wing at times with the Giants as a top up player. He is worth looking at the back end of the draft. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Darcy FORT
Geelong Falcons
DOB: 6/8/93. Ht: 203cm. Wt: 84kg.
Darcy came onto our list late after playing the early part of the year with South Barwon in the Geelong league rucking against former AFL players in Peter Street and Brad Ottens. Even then he only got his chance when one of our players went off to play for Vic Country because we could only play so many 19-year-olds. Once he got his chance he just ran with it and rucked really well. Is good in the air for his size and he’s good on the ground. Given this was his first year in a development program he has so much left in terms of upside and that will come at the elite level. –Andrew Allthorpe, Geelong Falcons coach.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Jack FROST
Williamstown
DOB: 25/2/92. Ht: 194cm. Wt: 82kg.
No VFL player finished the season more impressively than the dashing Seagulls key defender, who had two lots of hip surgery at the end of 2011. Terrific athlete and competitor. Among the VFL's best prospects. Go could go in the national draft. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Andrew GALUCCI
Calder Cannons
DOB: 28/1/94. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 65kg.
Small midfielder/forward who has great speed and agility. He probably is going to have to be picked as a defensive small forward but he needs to work on his strength and tacking pressure to make it to the next level. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Dayle GARLETT
Swan Districts
DOB: 9/1/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 75kg.
Dayle’s an insanely talented kid. Since I’ve been at the club I’ve seen Nic Naitanui, Chris Yarran, Jeff Garlett and Stephen Coniglio come through and Dayle is right up there with the best of them in terms of pure, raw footy talent. He naturally plays around the goals pretty well but his ability to run on the outside and execute at top pace is really strong. In time I think he can be a midfield option that can push to half forward and kick goals. He played seniors for us all year after debuting last season as well as starring at the national championships so he’s had a great year. On talent along he’s a genuine first round draft pick. The key for him will be adapting to the professionalism and ability to prepare his body, which is the area where he is slightly deficient at the moment. On talent alone we think he is a genuine 200-gamer. – Greg Harding, Swan Districts coach.
DRAFT RANGE: 1st/2nd round.

Ethan GILL
Glenelg
DOB: 31/12/94. Ht: 194cm. Wt: 94kg.
Ethan might be one who doesn’t get drafted this year because he’s still very much a baby who hasn’t really had a proper pre-season yet. Came to us from the country late in the piece and he’s a man mountain and plays his footy like a 24-year-old...strong and hard at it. Still needs to get a bit of speed in the legs which he will and I know Brisbane have had a look at him but my feeling is clubs might wait and see what he can do after another season with us. Is more of a forward and as a 16-year-old he played in a senior premiership in the bush so he’s happy to crunch it with the big boys. – Brenton Hole, Glenelg talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Harrison GILL
Glenelg
DOB: 15/10/93. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 74kg.
Harrison’s a 19-year-old who had some interest around him last year but didn’t get drafted then came on really well with us in 2012 and managed six senior games. It’s funny because he’s not quite big enough for the way he wants to play sometimes in that he can take a really good mark and he kicks really well, including six goals in one of the under 18 finals last year. He’s got some pace, which he showed in his testing results at the state screening along with endurance and agility. If you asked me last week I might have said he mightn’t get drafted but after the test results that might open a few eyes. – Brenton Hole, Glenelg talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sam GILMORE
Northern Knights
DOB: 2/3/93. Ht: 200cm. Wt: 93kg.
Sam is a basketball convert who player as the No 1 ruckman for Vic Metro this year and has been the No. 1 ruckman in the TAC Cup. Improved an enormous amount over the past 24 months but he very much an authentic project player for someone. Still has a way to go but at the size he attracts some interest. – Anthony Allen, Northern Knights coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sam GORDON
Geelong Falcons
DOB: 31/3/93. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 90kg.
Sam’s probably the unlucky one of our 19-year-olds in that he had Darcy Fort and Mason Wood ahead of him so he had to mix playing with us and locally at Camperdown. Had some injuries late in the year so couldn’t break back into our side but he’s a big, strong forward who has improved his fitness after missing the start of year because of a hip operation. – Andrew Allthorpe, Geelong Falcons coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Josh GRANT
Glenorchy
DOB: 1/3/94 Ht: 197cm. Wt: 89kg.
Josh is a key forward who can also play in defence. He played in the national championships in each of the past two years and is still very much developing his game. He has some excellent athletic attributes and is very agile. He is a rough chance to be drafted. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sam GRAY
Port Magpies
DOB: 1/2/92. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 75kg.
Sam is a small forward who finished third in our best and fairest which was a great effort from him. Played in the state team against WA and prior to that he was playing some fantastic footy but his form probably did drop off a little late in the year. – Brian Leys, Port Magpies general manger.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Blake GREWAR
Redland
DOB: 16/2/93. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 78kg.
He has had a bad ankle but has been a massive improver over the past 12 months. He didn't get a game at Redlands reserves in the finals in 2011, but played Queensland Under 21s this year and played as an overager at the national championships. A former soccer player, he is tenacious, has good speed and an excellent endurance base as an inside midfielder. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tom GRIBBLE
Geelong Falcons
DOB: 17/10/94. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 70kg.
Tom’s the one who has improved the most for us over the course of the season. In our final that we won he had 40 possessions with 34 of those effective. Got a huge tank but also has the will and want to run himself into the ground, he makes good decisions and can win his own footy. Has grown a lot over the past two years and will need to add some weight but is still growing. – Andrew Allthorpe, Geelong Falcons coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie

Tom GRIMES
Northern Knights
DOB: 1/12/94. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 76kg.
Tom is the brother of Melbourne’s Jack and Richmond’s Dylan who is probably somewhere between the two with the way he plays his footy. Still very light and had some injury problems and missed some games early in the season but came back late in the year and is a real goer – super competitive and has some dash as a running defender type. Very disciplined and just loves a contest. – Anthony Allen, Northern Knights coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ryley HALL
Gippsland Power
DOB: 14/2/94. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 85kg.
Ryley is one that we rate massively internally. I think he has had a super year and been one of our best players this season. He is a really versatile defender in that he can play on smalls and talls. He is very quick and probably the most competitive kid we have on our list. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Dale HAMILTON
South Fremantle
DOB: 23/2/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 72kg.
Dale is a tall, rangy midfielder who can also play forward or back. He gets across the ground pretty well and had a fairly consistent season with us. He played a good game in the grand final and chipped in with two goals. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

George HAMPSON
Subiaco
DOB: 8/2/90. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 80kg.
George has been a bit of a late maturer as he didn’t play Colts with us and had some injury problems as a kid. Played amateur footy then came to us as a 20-year-old and has done well. Got massive endurance, good speed and skills and has mixed it with the WAFL’s best all season. Plays midfield where he uses the ball well. – Jeff Lind, Subiaco talent and development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Will HAMS
Gippsland Power
DOB: 14/7/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 70kg.
Will is a very courageous player for his size and extremely competitive. He has good skills and is very much and inside and outside player. He can play at half back, on a wing or even onball. He is one that has really come on as the season has progressed. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Jack HANNATH
Central Districts
DOB: 9/7/91. Ht: 199cm. Wt: 85kg.
Jack is a 202cm ruckman who has been our first ruck shouldering the load as 20-year-old the whole season and done extremely well. Really improved as the year unfolded, he moves well, he’s got good skills and still has another couple of years until he reaches his full potential. His running’s good for a big fella and I reckon he could be even better suited to a centre half back role down the track. – Scott Stevens, Central District development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Justin HARDY
Central Districts
DOB: 14/1/88. Ht: 196cm. Wt: 97kg.
Justin’s a tall, mature-aged player who was the leading goalkicker for us this year and won the Ken Farmer Medal for the SANFL leading goalkicker with 58 for the season. He’s actually probably better suited to being a ruckman or down back so he’s versatile and can play a variety of roles. He’s been able to play a number of roles for us over the past three or four years because of injuries to others and we’ve been forced to throw him around. – Scott Stevens, Central District development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Khan HARETUKU
Frankston
DOB: 19/10/89. Ht: 199cm. Wt: 101kg.
Power forward with clamps for hands and a thumping left boot. Raised in Sydney by New Zealand-born parents, he spent two years with St Kilda as a rookie but wasn't ready for the league scene. At 23 and after three decent years with the Dolphins his time has come. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Tom HARGREAVE
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 4/7/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 77kg.
Tom is a midfielder who can go forward. He has good skills and is a nice ball winner. He has clean hands and is very good at getting his hands on the ball first at stoppages. He kicks the ball quite well on both sides and has a bit to work with. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushrangers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Yoshi HARRIS
Boe District (Nauru)
DOB: 20/2/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 89kg.
I watched him late last year in the Oceania champions and he has a great set of hands and there is no problem with his ability to play and understand the game. His testing was pretty good and he is a powerful type of kid. He is a great kid and won’t leave any stone unturned and played some footy in Sydney this year where he ended up playing in a premiership. He projects as a medium forward. – Michael Ablett, AFL academy talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Kyle HARTIGAN
Werribee
DOB: 11/7/91. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 89kg.
Strong and determined full-back who has shown gradual improvement since joining the Tigers from the Western Jets three years ago. Among the best in both of Werribee's finals. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Nick HAYES
Woodville-West Torrens
DOB: 11/8/94. Ht: 191cm. Wt: 82kg.
Nick went to the state screening after coming to us this year from our country zone. He is a Sacred Heart College boy who is a tall forward and is one of the best contested marks we’ve had at our club in the under 18s in four or five years. He just doesn’t drop anything and is extremely smart and clever. – Shane Grimm, Woodville-West Torrens talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Matthew HAYNES
Northern Knights
DOB: 19/3/94. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 76kg.
Matthew is an AIS scholarship holder who is an elite sprinter who went to Carey Grammar. Has always player footy but is a born athlete and probably still is more of an athlete than a footballer. Has played for Vic Metro at the championships for the past two years and can play forward or back as well as the wing. Suited by big grounds but can struggle to win his own footy and doesn’t have a lot of the physical pressure side of things at the moment. Maybe that will go against him but given he’s been at the AIS for the past two years the recruiters know him well. – Anthony Allen, Northern Knights coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sam HEAVYSIDE
Bendigo Pioneers
DOB: 9/7/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 69kg.
I’m a big wrap for Sam. He is very good player and when he got injured we dropped off a lot as a team. He is an inside player who whilst not being very big, never gets knocked off the ball and we hope that he will still be drafted, but due to his injury mid year, he may have to come back as a 19 year old. – Ray Byrne, Bendigo Pioneers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Kyle HENDY
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 26/2/94. Ht: 199cm. Wt: 93kg.
Missed a lot of footy last year with back stress fractures but he took on the role of the number one ruck and really turned it on after Round 10. He is very technical with his ruck work, and he also has some aggression about him – he hates getting beaten. He has good speed for a big man and he is one that might jump up, as the ruck pool isn’t that strong. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

SEAN HENSON
East Fremantle
DOB: 3/3/92. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 80kg.
Sean was part of the Colts’ 2010 premiership team and played reserves in 2011 and this year played 21 games of senior footy in 2012 and averaged over 20 possessions which earned him the WAFL rookie of the year award. Very well skilled player on both sides and when he gets the ball he makes it count. – Adam Kelly, East Fremantle chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Louis HERBERT
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 30/7/94. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 70kg.
Louis had an inconsistent year for us. We only had him one night a week as he is a Warrnambool boy. He probably has the most attributes to play AFL footy – a good leap, very quick and has strong hands. He wins a lot of his footy mark and kick, but we want him to win more ball on the ground which he is improving on. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Sean HETHERINGTON
Calder Cannons
DOB: 6/11/94. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 72kg.
Super-competitive player who played a lot of roles for the Cannons during the year. He is probably best suited off a half back flank but he can accumulate possessions and rotate through midfield if required. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Alex HOWSON
East Fremantle
DOB: 25/5/94. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 90kg.
Alex is a tall forward who won the Colts and league goalkicking with 58 for the season, including five bags of five or more from 18 games and only failed to kick a goal on one occasion. A very neat and clean sort of player, a very good kick for goal and has good height who actually played as a key defender at the national championships but played all year forward for us during the year. Very mobile for his size and the fact he’s a great set shot for goal helps (he kicked 58.27 for the year) in terms of creating some interest for clubs. – Adam Kelly, East Fremantle chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sean HURLEY
Kildare (Ireland)
DOB: 2/3/92. Ht: 196cm. Wt: 91kg.
There has been a bit of interest in him. He is a good size at 196cm and he ran a 3.01 in the 20m sprint and a 13.1 beep test. He moves well and similar to Emmett Bradley has a nice mix of speed and endurance. He raised a few eyebrows with his running and a few clubs have been asking some questions about him. – Michael Ablett, AFL academy talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Riley HUTCHINSON
East Perth
DOB: 21/1/94. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 88kg.
Riley had a mixed year but did show some good signs at times with our Colts. Has got great athletic ability, can play through the midfield but also as a key position down back. Makes good decisions with the ball, is creative by hand but as I said he had a mixed season with his form after a late start to the pre-season. – Mark Winnett, East Perth football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Emmanuel IRRA
South Adelaide
DOB: 25/3/94. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 80kg.
Emmanuel’s pretty new to the game (he moved to Australia when he was 12) of football and has only played two seasons but he played 15 senior games with us this year. Plays wing/half forward and kicks the ball really well off both sides of the body. Had some niggling injuries this year, which interrupted his preparation for the national carnival and he didn’t have a huge impact at the championships but he’s got some of the attributes you need for AFL footy. – Neil Sharpe, South Adelaide football and talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

James IVES
Aspley
DOB: 22/3/94. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 77kg.
James is a small midfielder who reads the play well and is a very good clearance and stoppage player. He has outstanding leadership qualities, he was the captain of our under-16 team two years ago, and was captain of the Brisbane Lions under-18 academy side this year. He's very creative around the goals. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Brandon JACK
Pennant Hills
DOB: 25/5/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 75kg.
Brother of Sydney star Kieren. He is a hybrid onballer who can play both inside and outside. He is quite quick and finishes well with his left foot. Again he is a Sydney academy player who was nominated by the Swans. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Matthew JOHNSON
West Perth
DOB: 5/9/94. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 73kg.
Matt’s uncle is George Michalczyk who is a bit of a legend in Western Australia after playing for West Perth then coaching both West Perth and East Perth. Matt is quiet, shy kid but on the field he’s electric with great pace. A goalkicking freak he’s got a bit of the Jeff Farmer about him because he can kick the impossible goal. Needs to work on his consistency and the defensive side of the game but there’s been some interest from teams, including Hawthorn. – Gerry O’Dea, West Perth chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Oliver JOHNSON
West Adelaide
DOB: 29/3/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 68kg.
Oliver is a very good midfield clearance player who wins plenty of the ball, makes good decisions and a good tackler. Still needs to develop his body with size but he’s a natural footballer who played reserves and under 18s for us this season. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Jack JOHNSTONE
Gippsland Power
DOB: 4/8/93. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 82kg.
I think he is probably the most underrated player in our side. He does the team things too much at times but he really likes to do his job and put the team first. He came back as a 19 year old and had an outstanding year. He is a half back/winger and plays a lot taller than his measurements and is good overhead. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Brady JONES
Clarence
DOB: 16/10/88. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 75kg.
Inside midfielder who was the Tasmania state wicketkeeper last year in Tim Paine’s absence. Missed a contract this season so decided to have a go at footy. Won the Tasmania best player medal in the state game against victoria and has created some interest among clubs but needs to work on his speed. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tyler JONES
Redland
DOB: 3/2/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 80kg.
Tyler is a long-kicking, hard-running defender who came down from Mackay and forced his way into the senior side at Redland in the NEAFL. He played in last year's reserves premiership side. He has a very good temperament, great concentration and really loves a contest. He pushed into the midfield a bit more this year for the Scorpions. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Joel KALAJZIC
Perth
DOB: 2/12/93. Ht: Wt:
He played back pocket all year for us in the Colts and made the team of the year. He took all of our kick ins and is a nice long left foot kick and solid decision maker. I think Sydney was looking at him early in the year but they may have dropped off a bit. – Wayne Langbourne, Perth colts coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ben KEARNS
Gippsland Power
DOB: 29/10/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 73kg.
Ben was a first year player in our program and had a really good year. He is an exciting, quick goalkicker who is very clean below his knees. He impressed everyone considering how far back he has come from. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Tim KELLY
South Fremantle
DOB: 26/7/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 76kg.
Timmy is an indigenous player who is a very good in and under and clearance player. He probably doesn’t realise how good he can be as he is pretty laid back. He uses the ball pretty well and won the Colts best and fairest this season. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Zac KEOGH
Calder Cannons
DOB: 13/10/94. Ht: 173cm. Wt: 75kg.
Played four games with NSW at the championships and was in the best in three of them. Plays in the midfield and is really hard at the ball. He is good on both sides of his body and looms as a possible rookie chance. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Leigh KITCHIN
Frankston
DOB: 8/9/90. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 83kg.
Nippy midfielder who, like a few fellow Dolphins, made his name in the VFL this season. Had spent the previous three years fiddling on the fringes of Box Hill Hawks' senior team. Rangy midfield-type, who like Forrest Gump, runs all day. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tim KNOWLES
Mulgrave
DOB: 7/4/93. Ht: 191cm. Wt: 78kg.
Late developer who has starred this year in the Eastern league. A tall midfielder with good leg speed and evasiveness who always seems to have a lot of time with ball in hand. He is also a good baseballer and has looked at heading to the US to play college ball. A real smoky. – Anton Grbac, AFL Victoria high performance manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Kane LAMBERT
Northern Blues
DOB: 26/11/91. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 77kg.
Forged a handsome reputation in the TAC Cup with the Northern Knights, and then took a year off. Returned in 2011 and has graduated from run-with roles to become an attacking midfield threat like his great mate Adam Marcon. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tom LANGDON
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 10/6/94. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 80kg.
He is one that has really surprised everyone. The first half of the year he just floated along but went to school footy and played pretty well. He came back for the second half of the year and was terrific as a running half back who pushes forward and kicks goals. He is a beautiful kick and size but just needs to work on his intensity and second efforts. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Jarrod LIENERT
Sturt
DOB: 5/8/94. Ht: 191cm. Wt: 80kg.
Jarrod’s an interesting one because I think there are a few people that are probably a bit more impressed with his size and mobility rather than watching his footy. He’s got all the attributes that you’d love in a key defender in that he’s tall and strong overhead. He’s probably not the tightest of defenders in that he likes to play that floating loose man and he plays it quite well, but he’s not overly aggressive and I think that might be a question mark. The one thing he is is a magnificent kick of the footy and kicked out in our under 18s and played some reserves games. From full back he can kick it to the middle of the ground, which might impress some clubs. – Paul Sandercock, Sturt football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Jake LISTON
North Adelaide
DOB: 12/5/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 69kg.
Jake’s a small running midfielder who can play either inside our outside the contest. Boasts elite running capacity, is a two-sided player with neat skills. Played two senior games this season and did well and finished the year off well in the reserves. – Darryl Wintle, North Adelaide football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jake LLOYD
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 20/9/93. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 72kg.
Jake had an outstanding season as a 19 year old. He moved down from Horsham to give his footy a real go. His endurance and workrate are fantastic, he just keeps running all day. He never wastes a possession and is a good leader around the footy club. He also won the TAC Cup coaches award, which is a great achievement. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Tony LOCKYER
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 6/3/93. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 83kg.
Tony’s been an outstanding leader for our football club over the past two years. He’s a real general in the midfield and is very smart. He has had injury issues up until this season, so it was his first full year in a while but he is consistent with his endurance and brings other players into the game. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sam LOWRIE
South Fremantle
DOB: 22/7/94. Ht: 187cm. Wt: 80kg.
Sam is a nice size and played a league game but broke his collarbone in that game. He didn’t look at all out of place prior to the injury and he was then very diligent with his recovery and made it back to play in the Colts grand final. He also broke his leg last year so he has had a few setbacks. He’s going to be a half back/midfield type that finds the ball well takes a good mark and has a good engine. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 3rd round.

Aaron LUCCON
Norwood
DOB: 21/4/94. Ht: 197cm. Wt: 87kg.
Aaron started the year as a big defender and played all the games at the state carnival as a big defender and then ended the season playing reserves and got a couple of runs in the seniors late in the season as a forward/ruckman. A big boy who didn’t look out of place as a ruckman at senior level and he’s just a great character kid who wants to be the best he can be. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Sean LYNCH
South Fremantle
DOB: 30/1/94. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 76kg.
Sean started the year playing in the seniors practice matches and didn’t look out of place. He ended up going back to the Colts and had an up and down year. He is a defender-type that can possibly push up into the midfield down the track. He played for WA at the national champs and is a good kick and boasts great leg speed. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Adam MARCON
Northern Blues
DOB: 28/7/92. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 80kg.
The second-year midfielder played for the VFL against Tasmania, won the coaches' award on count back and annexed the Blues' best and fairest. Could find the ball in a maze and he uses it well. As dedicated as he is talented and a fine young man. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ryan MARKS-LOGAN
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 18/6/94. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 75kg.
Ryan is a really light bodied player who will take two years to get a frame that will stand up to AFL footy but he’s got some really upside. A terrific reader of the play, who is a great intercept mark, moves well and uses it well. Did the state screening and there are three or four clubs who have shown some interest. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Kyle MARTIN
Frankston
DOB: 17/9/90. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 81kg.
Like Osborne, came from the Eastern league this year. Much was expected of the strong-marking midfielder after his three dominating years at Noble Park and he delivered, gaining selection in the VFL team and winning the best and fairest. Essendon is said to be keen. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Sam MARTYN
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 8/1/94. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 74kg.
Sammy is a ripper. He is one of our elite endurance runners and his workrate and character are outstanding. He works hard as an inside midfielder and wins plenty of his own ball. He only played 11 games but was ranked second on our overall stats. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushrangers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Tim McGENNISS
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 18/1/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 76kg.
Tim won our best and fairest this season on the back of a really good season. Probably our No.1 player at clearances and contested possessions who is a good inside player and classy on the outside...just has a lot of tricks. I’m really hoping he’ll get drafted late but at worst a rookie list spot for him. Tough, hard and a great preparer/trainer. Just one of those players who does everything right and everything you ask of him. Hasn’t come through the traditional pathway so there isn’t the hype around him so I hope it doesn’t go against him. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Todd McKAY
South Adelaide
DOB: 25/1/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 74kg.
Todd had a really good state carnival for South Australia in 2011 but injured his knee and missed 12 weeks of footy this year so he didn’t get to play at the national championships. Got back towards the end of the year and played some league games to finish off. A really strong player around the contested footy, kicks it pretty well and has a good feel for the game. – Neil Sharpe, South Adelaide football and talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jake McKENZIE
Western Jets
DOB: 12/5/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 72kg.
Jake had a really good national championships playing as a small defender. Highly skilled, rebounds well and I’d say he’d be a late round pick. A consistent type of player who is a guy you can give a job to and he’ll do it. – Torin Baker, Western Jets coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick

Shaquille McKENZIE
East Perth
DOB: 22/4/94. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 67kg.
Shaquille’s a small forward who can play through the midfield. He’s an indigenous boy who’s has played some senior footy both this year and last where he showed himself to be a real competitor and really strong defensively as well boasting good goal sense. Works hard and has some x factor but does need to work on his finishing skills. – Mark Winnett, East Perth Football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Braedon McLEAN
Waratah
DOB: 9/11/94. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 75kg.
Braedon was injured for a great deal of 2012 but has developed his speed and endurance. He is an inside midfielder who is great with his hands and his decision-making. He is great in a team environment and trains really hard but he is still waiting for an operation on his ankle which occurred mid year. – Wally Gallio, Northern Territory talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Mason MIDDLETON
West Adelaide
DOB: 26/7/94. Ht: 191cm. Wt: 95kg.
Mason is a key forward who is a nice kick and a very strong contested mark. Had some injury problems this year which interrupted his campaign around the time of the national championships so he missed out on that, but he came back and played an under 18s and reserves final for us and did very well. Had he had not copped the injuries I believe he would be looking at getting taken in the first half of the draft, but because he missed some time it’s a bit of an unknown. He’ll be good value for someone knowing he has so much upside when he gets his body right. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Lachlan MIRAMS
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 31/6/94. Ht: 197cm. Wt: 77kg.
He is one that has surprised us. He didn’t play at the end of the end but still got a state combine invitation. He hurt his ankle early in the year and struggled to get some continuity going. He is a tall, athletic ruckman who is very much the AFL prototype at the moment. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

David MIRRA
Box Hill Hawks
DOB: 20/3/91. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 86kg.
Accomplished defender/midfielder who is strong and skilful. He ran fifth in Box Hill's best and fairest and went to the state combine last year. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Kane MITCHELL
Claremont
DOB: 1/12/89. Ht: 175cm. Wt: 75kg.
Kane won the Sandover Medal this year. His workrate is enormous, he finds plenty of the ball, kicks goals...just huge really. People certainly have showed interest in him and if he got picked up he’d thrive in an AFL environment I reckon. – Darcy Coffey, Claremont talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Craig MOLLER
Sydney University
DOB: 22/8/94. Ht: 204cm. Wt: 89kg.
200cm ruckman who didn't play a great deal due to ongoing injury issues at the nationals. He would project as a mid-round pick if he were part of the draft field but as he is a NSW Scholarship holder with Fremantle, the Dockers have first dibs on him. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: NSW zone selection, Fremantle.

Harley MONTGOMERY
Sturt
DOB: 20/2/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 70kg.
Harley’s a young lad who played state under 18s this year and 2011 playing mainly as a small defender. I think he was top three or four in the agility testing at the draft combine last year and he’s also got a fantastic vertical leap for a player of his size. Didn’t do the testing this because he got injured in a reserves final and he’s an interesting one. The question on him is can he go into the midfield or can he go forward and we think he can but you never know what recruiters are thinking. We played him in the last six games in our senior side playing out of defence where he certainly looks more comfortable. – Paul Sandercock, Sturt football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Ryan MORRISON
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 6/3/94. Ht: 190cm. Wt: 83kg.
Ryan is a tall defender who played two or three games at the national championships. He’s a great kick, quick and I would have thought he’d be a late draft pick. A really good link player who boasts an enormous kick which he uses well off half back. He's in the Jake Batchelor mould but a bigger body. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Toby NANKERVIS
North Launceston
DOB: 12/8/94. Ht: 197cm. Wt: 102kg.
Comes from a cricket background and only came into our system around Christmas time. He is a ruckman/forward who is a very good kick for his height and has good hands. He is new to the program but worked hard on his fitness and he prepared himself well for the combine. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jydon NEAGLE
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 29/8/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 76kg.
Son of former Essendon star Merv. Worked onto the list at the start of the year and continually got better. Lively medium sized forward who marks the ball well and is a good shot for goal. He reads the game exceptionally well but had stress fractures in the second half of the year, which hampered him. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushrangers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Shane NELSON
West Perth
DOB: 11/5/93. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 73kg.
Shane is an on-baller who played senior footy for us for basically three-quarters of the year. I reckon he’s ready to go next year after being unlucky not to get drafted last season but he was passed over because there was a perception his kicking wasn’t up to scratch. His football was outstanding for us this season and he won our rookie of the year and won another rising star award with one of the radio stations here. He’s a ball magnet who was born to play footy and boasts a built in radar of what’s around him. Just a great character kid and we’re super proud of him. – Gerry O’Dea, West Perth chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Josh NEWMAN
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 22/12/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 74kg.
Josh only came into our program this year and he’s just an honest competitor who enjoyed a couple of breakout games which recruiters took some note off and it’s helped create some interest. Can play on-ball/wing/half forward and still developing. If he doesn’t get picked up he’ll make a great 19-year-old for us. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Nick NEWMAN
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 15/1/93. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 76kg.
Nick is the older brother of Josh, who is a slightly different sort of player in that he’s more outside than inside. A left-footer who is very skilful, a good reader of the game and there’s enough interest to suggest he could end up on a rookie list. This year was his first year with us after we brought him in as a 19-year-old. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Dan NOONAN
Port Melbourne
DOB: 1/10/90. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 92kg.
Overcame injuries in 2011 to hold down fullback for the Borough this year. The former Old Xaverians VAFA player is strong, has closing speed and a neat left-foot. He is one to watch. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ed O’CONNOR
Norwood
DOB: 22/1/94. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 75kg.
Ed is a very talented kid who unlike a couple of our boys is very much a kid growing into a man’s body. Plays as a wingman/lead up forward but AFL clubs have asked that if he doesn’t get drafted could he be played in the midfield. A natural left footer but he kicks it well off both sides and is very clean both on the floor and in the air. His areas of concern are his speed off the mark and endurance but they can both be worked on. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Harry O'MEARA
Bendigo Pioneers
DOB: 28/12/94. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 75kg.
He is a really quick, skilful outside player as a half forward or winger. He pulled a hamstring off the bone in the Young Guns game so once he gets over that he should be OK. If he doesn't get drafted I think we will get him back as a 19 year old. – Ray Byrne, Bendigo Pioneers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Kenny ONG
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 14/3/94. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 72kg.
We rate him highly internally. He is a good inside midfielder with excellent quick hands and good foot skills. He is probably a bit quicker than most people think and one that can really improve in a full time environment. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Leigh OSBORNE
Frankston
DOB: 13/3/90. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 84kg.
Pacy left-footed half back who kicks the ball sweetly and likes to take a dash. Turned up unannounced from East Ringwood for Frankston's pre-season training 12 months ago and coach Simon Goosey quickly decided to list him. Played for the Vics against Tassie and like North Ballarat’s Dean Towers, he attended the national combine. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Brad PLUG
Balmain
DOB: 3/1/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 73kg.
Brad is an inside midfielder who has high-level endurance and wins his own ball quite well. He is part of the Sydney Swans academy so they have first rights on him. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jason PONGRACIC
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 21/4/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 86kg.
Jason was out captain this year. A superior leader who is a strong bodied player and just an enormous competitor whose been highly rated as a junior. I see him going in the second or third round and he is very much in the hard-nosed midfielder mould. Finished second in our best and fairest count despite missing some footy early in the year because of an adductor injury. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Josh PORTER
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 26/4/94. Ht: 193cm. Wt: 95kg.
Had an injury interrupted underage year with foot stress fractures. At his best he marks the footy really well and marks it at its highest point. He works really hard as a key forward and is pretty handy at ground level. He had a breakout game against Gippsland where he kicked five goals and was a state triple jump champion as a junior. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushrangers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Chris PROWSE
Oakleigh Chargers
DOB: 26/2/93. Ht: 203cm. Wt: 92kg.
One of our 19-year-old’s who at 204cm has really improved this year despite missing the Vic Metro trials because of injury. Late in the year started to develop his game by pushing forward and taking some marks and kicking some goals. There’s not a lot of ruckman in the draft with those sort of capabilities so we’re really hopefully he will end up at an AFL club. Has come through our system all the way through from under 15s and given he is a 19-year-old he realised it was his last roll of the dice and as a result matured a lot balancing footy with university. – Justin Wenke, Oakleigh Chargers coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Aseri RAIKIWASA
Port Magpies
DOB: 18/4/93. Ht: 191cm. Wt: 91kg.
Aseri came into the senior side as much by necessity because we didn’t have enough tall backs and despite getting thrown into the deep end he came on as the year unfolded. Worked super hard to do his job and he’s worked hard on his kicking efficiency but backs himself, catches it well and for a 19-year-old kid he plays with some confidence. – Brian Leys, Port Magpies general manger.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Joseph REDFERN
Sydney Hills
DOB: 18/11/94. Ht: 187cm. Wt: 85kg.
Spent the year playing with the UWS Giants and Sydney Hills in the NEAFL. Played with NSW/ACT at the national championships but had an injury at the start of the year which interrupted his preparation. He is a versatile utility type from Wagga who can be selected as a zone selection by GWS. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Matt RENNIE
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 16/6/94. Ht: 190cm. Wt: 79kg.
Matt had a reasonably consistent season playing centre half forward and centre half back and is mobile and a fierce competitor. In one game against the Jets he took 17 marks, 12 contested, in what was one of the better individual games I’ve seen at TAC Cup level because he just dominated the game and that’s really hard to do at that level. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Xavier RICHARDS
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 25/4/93. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 84kg.
Brother of Sydney star, Ted. Apart from his preliminary final, his back end form was very good as a tall, athletic defender. He is going develop along the same lines as his brother in that he will take some time. He has a bit of football immaturity, but athletically, we haven’t had too many better come through the program. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ben RIOLI
St Marys (NT)
DOB: 9/10/93. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 62kg.
Ben is a small defender who played the majority of games in the NEAFL senior team this year. He has really elite kicking skills but the question mark is his body size and whether clubs feel that they can put some weight onto him. He was super against Vic Metro, which was the day after his dad’s funeral. – Wally Gallio, Northern Territory talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Nick RIPPON
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 4/1/94. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 79kg.
Winner of the Rebels best and fairest. He played mostly as a back pocket last year as a 17-year-old but stepped up this year and became a genuine midfielder. He has improved his endurance levels, doesn’t waste the ball and is really willing to learn. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Michael RISELEY
Casey Scorpions
DOB: 21/12/88. Ht: 190cm. Wt: 83kg.
Versatile 190cm player who spent most of this year in the backline. Gives the ball a hoof, keeps his feet and his running ability runs in the family: he is the brother of Olympian Jeff. Brained it in the beep test at the state combine. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Dean ROBERTSON
North Ballarat Rebels
DOB: 21/8/94. Ht: 200cm. Wt: 91kg.
Had an injury plagued time at the Rebels over the past two years only playing four games. He is a 200cm very athletic boy from NSW who can play in the ruck or at centre half back. He is quick and has a good leap and played a great game on Joe Daniher against the Cannons. – Phil Partington, North Ballarat Rebels region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Daniel ROBINSON
Mosman Swans
DOB: 3/7/94. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 84kg.
He played one game at the Oakleigh Chargers but played with us (NSW/ACT) at the nationals. Daniel is a good ball winner who can play a multitude of roles. He reads the play well and is one to watch. He is a Swans scholarship holder and I would think that they would be some chance of taking him. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Nick RODDA
West Perth
DOB: 6/7/94. Ht: 194cm. Wt: 94kg.
Nick’s a key position defender who is just a big rock with pace that belies his size. There’s nothing flashy about Nick and he’s very strong and determined and I would have thought he’s a monty to get drafted somewhere in the middle rounds. For clubs that need quality defenders he could be a very good player because he can stick to a job, he’s a good contested mark and he has pace on the deck. A pretty quiet kid who just flies under the radar but does his job. – Gerry O’Dea, West Perth chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/4th round.

Billy ROLFE
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 16/1/93. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 77kg.
Billy’s an outside rookie chance who had a reasonable start to the year for us but tended to drop off a little bit at the end. Really good aerobic capacity for a genuine midfielder, is a super competitor and played two national championship games which was good experience for him. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Dylan ROOS
Eastern Suburbs
DOB: 5/7/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 75kg.
Son of former Sydney premiership coach, Paul. Versatile utility type who can play back, forward or in the midfield. Played at the nationals and another one who was nominated by the Swans academy program. Played a few games with the Swans reserves as part of the NEAFL top up program. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ben ROSS
Werribee
DOB: 21/9/88. Ht: 179cm. Wt: 79kg.
Unfailingly classy and creative, the Werribee flyer won the JJ Liston Trophy and was named in the team of the year, enhancing his claims of a recall to AFL ranks (he played 14 games for North Melbourne). With Tigers coach Scotty West as his strongest advocate, he must surely gain a second chance. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Sam RUNDLE
South Fremantle
DOB: 8/1/94. Ht: 184cm. Wt: 75kg.
He had a very good grand final with five goals and stood up under pressure when the heat was applied early. He is a mid-sized forward who knows where the goals are and is best suited to a half forward flank with spurts in the midfield. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Adam SAAD
Calder Cannons
DOB: 23/7/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 73kg.
Super quick, elusive small midfielder/forward who is a really good kick on his left foot. He has worked hard to improve his aerobic endurance over the year, but that didn’t show up that well at the testing. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ben SAUNDERS
South Fremantle
DOB: 25/12/91. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 82kg.
Won the league goalkicking in the WAFL with 66 goals. He came from Claremont where he only played three games of league footy so he didn’t get much of an opportunity. He played every game with us this year. He is a powerful athlete with a good leap and his inside 50 pressure was pretty good thins year. I would think he is a chance if someone needs a mid-sized mature forward. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Jordan SCANLON
Claremont
DOB: 26/6/94. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 84kg.
Jordan is a Kimberly boy who only played three games this year before he got injured. Still really raw and probably his biggest assets are his hands and a great vertical leap. Will need to work on coping with the rigours of the next level but there is certainly plenty to work with. Great speed and moves well for his size playing tall forward. I think Jordan is hoping to play some footy in the Northern Territory league because he missed so much of this year. – Darcy Coffey, Claremont talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tom SCHOTT
West Adelaide
DOB: 27/4/94. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 78kg.
Tom’s a versatile player who can play anywhere from wing to centre half forward to half back. He’s good overhead, has sound skills, can kick goals is a really mobile player for his size and the other thing he does do well is make good decisions. Played mainly reserves and under 18’s for us this year but is still a really raw boned kid at the moment with plenty of upside. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Josh SCOTT
Gippsland Power
DOB: 8/3/94. Ht: 190cm. Wt: 76kg.
Josh is a mid-sized forward who we rate highly internally. He works really hard, has a great pair of hands and is a beautiful long kick for goal. He had a good year playing for the Power and we see him as one of our better hopes to get drafted this year. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Jack SHEAHAN
Calder Cannons
DOB: 4/10/93. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 86kg.
Jack went to the state screening last year but missed a lot of footy this season with injury. He is a good size and has some upside and if he could get himself right, he could get himself a rookie position. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Scott SHERLOCK
Werribee
DOB: 25/2/90. Ht: 173cm. Wt: 76kg.
The pacy and classy former Western Jet returned from a serious knee injury to play 18 senior games. Coach Scotty West gave him the coaches award and is adamant another level is within Sherlock's compass. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Zak SHERMAN
Geelong Falcons
DOB: 13/7/94. Ht: 180cm. Wt: 74kg.
Zak plays across half back and can play in the middle if required. Uses the ball well, sets up play and boasts really good skill which is probably his biggest asset along with winning the footy one-on-one. – Andrew Allthorpe, Geelong Falcons coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Michael SIKORA
Sandringham
DOB: 23. Ht: 206cm. Wt: 103kg.
Mountain of a young man and he took the step from reserve-grade to senior regular this year. With his marking and mobility he was a boom player early in the season but fell away a little. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Gideon SIMON
Mt Hagan (PNG)
DOB: 30/10/94. Ht: 172cm. Wt: 71kg.
He is a fantastic kid in terms of his character and his ability to commit and do the work. He ran a 2.92 20m sprint and his agility and repeat sprint test results were very good. Richmond brought him in throughout the year to try to get an idea if they would take a pun ton him and they did a lot of homework. He is probably a David Rodan-type who could start as a small forward and then push up into the midfield. – Michael Ablett, AFL academy talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: International rookie, Richmond.

Scott SIMPSON
Mt Eliza
DOB: 19/10/89. Ht: 197cm. Wt: 96kg.
Former Cat who had a very good year at Mt Eliza as a ruckman and was selected in the VCFL state team. Had a great first year with Geelong and kicked eight goals against Williamstown but unfortunately he had a terrible broken leg and took a long time to recover from that even after he left the Cats. It is great to see him back and playing good footy. He’s a powerfully built kid who will play at Frankston VFL if not drafted. – Ben Waller, Geelong VFL football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jamie SKENNAR
Broadbeach
DOB: 17/1/94. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 71kg.
Small defender who was consistent with the Queensland under 18 team this season. Is a good decision maker and sticks to his task well. Being a Gold Coast boy, if he ends up anywhere it is most likely with the Suns. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Ed SMART
Norwood
DOB: 20/5/93. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 77kg.
Ed was captain on Sacred Heart College in 2011 and he played 2012 in for a majority of the year in the senior team playing as a small forward, but more of a defensive forward than an attacking forward. A really good pressure forward with great speed and agility, which helps him stick his six to eight tackles a week. A real Paul Puopolo-type but he’s got a better engine and a good vertical jump. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Josh SMITH
Morningside
DOB: 2/1/94. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 76kg.
Small, running defender. Lost his father a few years ago and didn't really know what to do with his footy but has moved down from Toowoomba and played well at Morningside. He has great endurance and is a real footy head who loves the game. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Nathan STARK
Glenelg
DOB: 19/7/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 70kg.
Nathan’s a fantastic kid in that he does everything he can to be the best he can and he’s got AFL all over him with effort, want, willingness to learn and preparation. The concern with him is his kicking but he had a really good state carnival where he had some possessions and he played reserves footy for us and played well up forward. He could be a midfield/forward type and maybe a run-with player. Despite the fact he’s never played that role I reckon he could do it because he so strong, so competitive and willing to tackle. – Brenton Hole, Glenelg talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Anthony STEPHENS
Swan Districts
DOB: 4/6/93. Ht: 186cm. 85kg.
Anthony is a real smoky but he debuted in the senior side in the second-semi final and also played the preliminary final and did a really good job playing as an outside wingman. The level of composure he was able to show in those finals was just fantastic and add to that the fact he is a genuinely duel-sided player might create some interest. He came from the clouds a bit after playing five reserves games after injury early in the year. – Greg Harding, Swan Districts coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jarrod STOKES
Darwin
DOB: 15/12/294. Ht: 175cm. Wt: 63kg.
Small defensive forward who has good speed and reads the play well. He is clean below the knees and has come a long way in the past 12 months. Tore a hip flexor mid year and never really returned to full form and fitness. Crumbs the ball well off the pack and applies great tackling pressure. He is a cousin of former Hawk Cameron Stokes. – Wally Gallio, Northern Territory talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Matt SULLY
Geelong VFL
DOB: 15/10/92. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 95kg.
Matt played at South Warrnambool last year and was centre half back in a premiership after playing at the North Ballarat Rebels. He started the year as the 23rd man then moved into the team but badly injured his ankle and missed about eight weeks. He probably didn’t get right until end of the year in the finals. He has plenty of work to do in certain areas but there isn’t too many boys his size going around. – Ben Waller, Geelong VFL football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Cameron SYMONDS
East Fremantle
DOB: 23/9/92. Ht: 205cm. Wt: 100kg.
Cam is a very good developing ruckman who is mobile, very well coordinated for his size and stature and really progressed this year playing some senior footy after coming out of Colts last year. Got a tremendous amount of potential and at those dimensions he’s sure to have recruiters looking at him. A neat left-foot kick but the thing that stands out is his ruckwork and that will only get better in time. – Adam Kelly, East Fremantle chief executive.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Matthew TABERNER
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 17/6/93. Ht: 197cm. Wt: 86kg.
Tall forward from Myrtleford with very good pace off the mark and big tank – he ran a 14.5 beep test at State Combine. Really impressed with his marking late in year for the Bushrangers. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushranger region manager.

Shannon TAYLOR
Claremont
DOB: 5/2/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 72kg.
Shannon has been through the AIS program for the last few years so he is well known to recruiters. Had a good under 18’s carnival but didn’t have the best year for us because of an injury-interrupted pre-season. Fitness is an issue but has a great ability to work through a stoppage and get his hands on the footy. Didn’t have the year he wanted but clubs seem to really rate him. – Darcy Coffey, Claremont talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Luke THOMAS
Norwood
DOB: 11/12/91. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 80kg.
Luke’s a mature aged player and we got him out country from a small place in the foothills of Adelaide called Uraidla. He’s a real learner because didn’t play any elite footy as a kid but he’s got elite speed and elite ground ball capacity but he’s got a long way to go in terms of what’s required to succeed at AFL level. He’s got better this year in terms of preparation and he’s got some attributes but I’m not sure how clubs will view him. Plays as a defender across half back. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Sean TIGHE
South Fremantle
DOB: 9/1/91. Ht: 198cm. Wt: 93kg.
Played every game and started the season very slowly off the back off a poor pre season. He started up forward but it wasn’t until he moved into the ruck that he found some form and finished up coming runner-up in the best and fairest. He has clocked some miles over the past few years having been in Queensland, playing in the TAC Cup and VFL and now over in the west. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Joel TIPPETT
West Adelaide
DOB: 26/10/88. Ht: 195cm. Wt: 91kg.
Joel is the brother of Kurt who, in my opinion, of all the players we’ve got in the mix for the draft, is the best prospect. Finished fourth in our best and fairest playing in the key defensive spot and was not beaten at all by anyone. A left footer who is a quality individual and works super hard to get the absolute best out of himself in all aspects. Played 21 senior games after coming to us after spending time on Brisbane and Gold Coast’s rookie lists. There’s been some interest from some Melbourne clubs, with two in particular showing plenty. – Mark Mickan, West Adelaide football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Anthony TIPUNGWUTI
Gippsland Power
DOB: 22/4/94. Ht: 174cm. Wt: 72kg.
Anthony is from the Tiwi Islands and worked extremely hard on his fitness dropping 8kgs. He came back as a 19 year old this year and probably has the best skills of a kid his age I have seen. He is really clean, a beautiful kick and a really good tackler. – Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Nic TUDDENHAM
Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 24/2/94. Ht: 177cm. Wt: 75kg.
Nic was one of our captains who is a quick small defender and is very competitive. He could need some more time but someone might give him a go after having a great year for us. – Graeme Yeats, Dandenong Stingrays coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Luke TYNAN
Casey Scorpions
DOB: 8/10/91. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 80kg.
Small and clever defender who prospered in his third year in the VFL, coming second in Casey's best and fairest. He knows when to attack and when to retreat and is the brother of young Demon Josh Tynan. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Tom TYQUIN
Sandringham Dragons
DOB: 23/9/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 72kg.
You won’t meet a nicer kid and he just works very hard. At the moment he has a bit of an awkward body shape but once he fills out his will have a really nice build. He kicks the ball well and is good overhead and is courageous for a player his stature. His hands are very good and although he isn’t super quick but his smarts make up for that. – Luke O’Brien, Sandringham Dragons football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Sam UNDERWOOD
Glenelg
DOB: 3/10/94. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 77kg.
Sam hasn’t quite had the year we hoped in 2012. He’s got huge potential, he’s quick, he’s a really good left foot kick and if he played like he did last year this year he would have got drafted because his footy late in 2011 after coming back from school was absolutely sensational. But when he came back this year he played reserves and under 18s and was sound but he didn’t stand out. I just reckon he might fall off the pace a bit but Sydney have been very interested for a long time now. An outside chance on potential alone. – Brenton Hole, Glenelg talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Shane VALENTI
Port Melbourne
DOB: 29/1/87. Ht: 176cm. Wt: 79kg.
The hour is getting late for the former Melbourne rover. He's a champion at VFL level, as his two JJ Liston Trophy victories and sustained excellence show, and there's little doubt he could be a worthy AFL player. He is very smart, a good decision maker and knows how to rack up the touches but his pace and size have been the knocks. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick.

Mitchell VAN DEN BERG
North Launceston
DOB: 10/5/93. Ht: 190cm. Wt: 72kg.
Tested OK at the combine. He is an over-ager who was brought in late after good performances at the state league level. He can play centre half forward and has fantastic endurance. He has good hands and isn’t a bad shot on goal. Clubs have come to get some information on his late. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Justin VAN UNEN
Rye
DOB: 3/4/90. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 89kg.
Versatile player who can be damaging through the midfield or as a leading forward and boasts terrific goal sense. Missed out on being drafted with Oakleigh three years ago and has had stints with Southport and East Doncaster before heading to Rye in 2012 where he kicked 120 goals. He impressed in the VFL Young Guns game kicking four goals. – Anton Grbac, AFL Victoria high performance manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Caleb VEARING
Oakleigh Chargers
DOB: 9/7/94. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 82kg.
Caleb is a NSW Scholarship player who boards at Xavier College in Melbourne. Only played four or five games for us but he’s a strong marking medium half-forward type who is very aggressive at the ball and has nice skills. Marks the ball well and does a lot right. – Oakleigh Chargers coach Justin Wenke.
DRAFT RANGE: Late pick/rookie.

Brendan VERRIER
South Fremantle
DOB: 9/8/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 68kg.
He played mainly as a midfielder or half back with the Colts and is still pretty light in the body. He had somewhat of an up and down year but played well in the grand final. He is the brother of current Richmond player Steven. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Josh WALDHUTER
Central Districts
DOB: 15/3/93. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 83kg.
Josh is another who is just starting to understand what it takes to play at SANFL senior level. Spent most of the year in our reserves but then because of his run and carry and long kicking he came late in the year to play seniors. He’s a strong body for a young man, he’s got good closing speed and he’s not frightened to stick his heads over the footy. Can play half back but needs to get an engine to go into the middle, which I think he can do. Might still be 12 months away but could be a rookie chance. – Scott Stevens, Central District development manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Matthew WALLIS
Norwood
DOB: 16/1/94. Ht: 194cm. Wt: 89kg.
Matty played in the state under 18 team as the second defender behind Aaron Luccon. He’s a tallish lad who boasts excellent endurance and ran 14.2 at the state screening beep test, which was a good effort because he’s carried a bit of a slight knee injury in the second half of the year. Has moved up from the country this year and has found it tough to settle in so he’s very much a work in progress but he’s a good strong mark, defends well and is good below his knees for a big bloke. His weakness is his kicking at this stage. – David Oatey, Norwood talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Mark WALSH
North Launceston
DOB: 29/1/94. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 74kg.
Developing midfielder who played in the championship across half back. He is a long penetrating kick and a good decision maker. He has had stints on ball and has played a bit of senior footy with the Northern Bombers this season. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Harley WALSHE
Western Jets
DOB: 23/2/94. Ht: 197cm. Wt: 83kg.
Harley is a private school boy from Wesley College so only played a handful of games for us. A skinny tall in the mould of Dustin Fletcher in terms of his body shape. Did the state screening who could possibly play in the ruck but is a key defender I would have thought. – Torin Baker, Western Jets coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jermaine WARDLE
Labrador
DOB: 5/11/94. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 86kg.
Moved down from Cairns and was most consistent as a centre half forward and centre half back. His tackling is ferocious and had eight to 10 tackles a game but didn't test all that well at the state screen. He was though a great contributor for the Scorpions this year. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Marvin WARRELL
South Fremantle
DOB: 19/9/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 70kg.
He was certainly the player of the finals series with the Colts. He won the medal on grand final day and is a very smart footballer who is realising that there are some great opportunities there if he wants to do the work. He is still quite slight but he has nice skills, is agile and quick. – Garry Davidson, South Fremantle football operations manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 3rd/4th round.

Jordan WEIR
North Shore
DOB: 1/8/94. Ht: 192cm. Wt: 81kg.
Solid tallish back. Great agility with good speed. Relatively new to the game and has some real upside in terms of his development. Nominated by the Swans academy program and played in their NEAFL Grand Final team at full back where he did fairly well. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Laine WILKINS
Peel Thunder
DOB: 30/3/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 78kg.
Laine’s just a very exciting half-back/wingman who doesn’t always show you what he can do all the time but when he turns it on he can really turn it on. He’s got a long penetrating left foot, can break the lines and takes a good mark courtesy of a good vertical leap. He was pretty highly rated entering the season and had a bit of a down year. Probably needs to work on his endurance but apart from that he’s a good chance (to get drafted). – Brad Bootsma, Peel Thunder football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/4th round.

Cadeyn WILLIAMS
Murray Bushrangers
DOB: 4/8/94. Ht: 186cm. Wt: 85kg.
Kicked seven goals against Geelong early in the year and was tracking well until he had a shoulder reconstruction. He would have played for Vic Country had he not been injured and a few clubs have been mindful of him due to his early season form. – Andrew Carson, Murray Bushrangers region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jason WILLIAMS
Port Melbourne
DOB: 18/8/93. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 78kg.
Former Calder Cannon who is a running player and had some injuries but got in six senior games, including the grand final. Coach Gary Ayres rated him as “the most talented kid” on the Borough’s list. Went to the draft combine. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jordan WILLIAMS
Eastern Ranges
DOB: 7/3/94. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 77kg.
Son of former Essendon star Darren “Daisy” Williams. Really good endurance, and is very competitive. He started to make better decisions after moving to defence from midfield and used the ball better when he could see the game unfolding ahead of him. His preparation is outstanding and you cannot fault his commitment. – Anthony Parkin, Eastern Ranges region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Zac WILLIAMS
Narrandera
DOB: 20/9/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 80kg.
Probably our best draft prospect. He was MVP at the national championships as an inside midfielder who excels at the clearances. Highly rated in terms of his agility and ability to get his hands on the ball first around the stoppages. He has good skills and leg speed also. – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 3rd/4th round.

Patrick WILSON
Sturt
DOB: 11/12/94. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 74kg.
Paddy’s been a real smoky for us playing across half back. He’s not the tallest of lads but he he’s got a good turn of speed, is well balanced and clean with the footy. We didn’t see a lot of him this year because of school football commitments but his second half of the season and finals for the under 18s was really good. Can play as a loose man and use the ball well and he certainly jumped out of the box late in the year. – Paul Sandercock, Sturt football manager.
DRAFT RANGE: 2nd/3rd round.

Steve WITKOWSKI
Williamstown
DOB: 23/8/91. Ht: 190cm. Wt: 88kg.
Strong defender who went from playing four senior VFL games in 2011 to 17 this year. Form tapered mid-season but he was among the best in the elimination final against Bendigo. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Brandon WOOD
Eastern Ranges
DOB: 28/5/93. Ht: 185cm. Wt: 82kg.
Missed all of 2011 with back stress fractures. Inside midfielder who is very competitive and is very good below his knees. His marking and contested marking are his greatest strengths. He hasn't played a lot of footy coming from a basketball background and played school footy with Mazenod. – Anthony Parkin, Eastern Ranges region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Mitchell WOOFFINDIN
Port Melbourne
DOB: 3/2/93. Ht: 178cm. Wt: 76kg.
Powerful and pacy midfielder who played for Vic Metro last season in the national championships and found another gear in the VFL finals this season. The Oakleigh Chargers graduate was named Port's best first-year player. – Paul Amy, VFL expert.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Josh WOOLLEY
Launceston
DOB: 24/9/92. Ht: 189cm. Wt: 84kg.
Josh represented Tasmania against Victoria this year and plays senior footy with Launceston. Plays across half back and can play on taller types and has a very good left foot. He is quite clean with hands both in the air and on the ground and is a good decision maker. – Mathew Armstrong, Tasmania academy coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Stephen WRAY
Pennant Hills
DOB: 15/4/94. Ht: 182cm. Wt: 77kg.
Stephen plays in the midfield and across half back. He attended Hills Grammar School and ended up playing eight games for the Swans reserves in the NEAFL this year. He is a very good athlete; he is quick, and runs all day. His kicking is pretty good and he competes hard. He certainly has some upside – Darren Denneman, NSW/ACT talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Michael WYLD
Morningside
DOB: 20/7/94. Ht: 187cm. Wt: 84kg.
Tall defender who played in Morningside’s seniors on the likes of Jason Eagle and Josh Pullman and always seems to get a fist in. He has great closing speed and has good concentration. He is studying medicine and is a very smart kid. – Bob Batty, Queensland talent manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Chris YARRAN
Perth
DOB: 27/3/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 80kg.
Chris played most of the year as a forward pocket or half forward. He is extremely talented and skilful but he isn’t a typical indigenous small forward, he more in the Michael O’Loughlin mould. He had a pretty poor season though apart from kicking seven goals in the last game of the year and didn’t test overly well at the combine. He was a very highly rated kid as a 16-year-old but he has tumbled down a bit which is a bit disappointing as he is a pretty good kid. – Wayne Langbourne, Perth colts coach.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jake YOUNG
Calder Cannons
DOB: 15/9/94. Ht: 181cm. Wt: 76kg.
Jake is a hard at it half back flanker or back pocket who gives you everything. He needs to work on his skills but in terms of competitiveness, he is right up there. – Ian Kyte, Calder Cannons region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.

Jacob ZBORIL
Eastern Ranges
DOB: 29/10/94. Ht: 183cm. Wt: 74kg.
He is a raw talent who is a beautiful kick of the ball, has a good vertical leap and is quite quick. Durability is probably his downfall. He needed to put consistent training and game time together to move up the ground. He is a small to medium forward with nice hands on the lead and has some x-factor. – Anthony Parkin, Eastern Ranges region manager.
DRAFT RANGE: Rookie.
