Sutil to face assault charges

Formula One driver Adrian Sutil has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after an incident with Lotus co-owner Eric Lux last year.

Sutil, who was axed from the Force India garage in December, will appear in a Munich court later this month to respond to a charge that he assaulted Lotus Renault co-owner Lux in a Shanghai nightclub following the Chinese Grand Prix in April.

The 29-year-old German is accused of cutting Lux with a broken glass at the party.

Lux's lawyer filed a criminal complaint against Sutil on April 17 last year, but the driver at the time denied any wrongdoing, stating that the incident was unintentional.

It has been reported that McLaren driver and 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton could be called as a key witness in the case.
