Peering through the Glass today I saw a delicate PR battle facing the AFLPA and their claim for a bigger piece if the AFL pie.

Let me say this firstly, I believe they are entitled to a larger share of an ever-increasing AFL pie, and don’t think it is a request driven by greed.

But, and this is a biggy, when bargaining with the Honcho’s at HQ and getting quotes into the major daily's – DO NOT throw in a line about players salaries increasing at a lesser rate than the average Aussie worker’s hourly rate.

Jane and John Smith don’t want to be used as leverage for this debate, and I would think would be more than happy to take that “lesser” increase if it meant the average 240 gorillas paid to AFL players.

Fight for it because you deserve it, but sell it differently. Because if you don’t; your regular fan PR glass will be Harf-empty.
