SEN OPINION
Tassie cricketers doing us proud

By Daniel Harford

Peering through the Glass today I see Tasmania being not only responsible for Princess Mary and finishes to yacht races, but also series victories in cricket.

Tonight at Lord’s, three men who rightly claim Tassie as their home will don the ‘baggy green’ as key players in Australia’s bid to topple the Pakistani’s in their two test series. Skipper Ricky Ponting, quick man Ben Hilfenhaus and gloveman Tim Paine.

Three?! It is a remarkable achievement for a state that has won just the solitary Sheffield Shield throughout its existence!

Is that the sort of record we want going into a Test Series? And not a Victorian to be seen.

Credit where credit is due though, and good luck to Tasmanian Cricket’s poster boys, because your glass is Harf-full.

I think Ricky should hung up his bat and give the captainship to Micheal Clarke. After the Ashes i think he will retire. He has been a good captain, not a great captain.Thank you.
