Shiel not focused on speculation

2018-05-01T10:41+10:00

Greater Western Sydney star Dylan Shiel says he doesn’t take notice of media speculation about his future, confirming he is focused on success with the Giants.

There were rumours floating around on the weekend linking Shiel to Carlton and other Victorian clubs, but the 25-year-old says that news often escapes him in the Sydney news cycle.

“Keeping up with the AFL news in Sydney, I haven’t really heard much about my story at all with what’s happening down in Melbourne,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“I sort of get reminded by people around the club that there seems to be someone asking about me. Sort of similar to Josh Kelly last year, it goes unnoticed around the club and we are able to get on with what we are doing here.”

Shiel also explained how trying to win a flag with GWS is at the forefront of his mind, as opposed to switching clubs.

“Coming from my side of things, I’ve still got a couple years left on the current contract, so I’m really enjoying my time up here,” he said.

“I’m certainly focused on trying to achieve something up here in Sydney.”

Shiel and the Giants travel to GMHBA Stadium this Friday to battle Geelong, and you can hear the game live on 1116 SEN from 6:00pm with Gerard Whateley, Anthony Hudson, Garry Lyon and Danny Frawley.
