Jess Trengove says brother’s Power debut was "special"

2018-07-02T13:52+10:00

Australian marathon runner Jess Trengove says her brother’s Port Adelaide debut was a tearjerker, and she has shared how the siblings use each other as motivating tools.

Jack Trengove made his Power debut in Saturday’s win over Carlton, amassing 21 disposals at 80 percent efficiency.

Even thought she couldn’t be there, as Jess was competing on the Gold Coast, she has explained how special the moment was.

“I was glued to the TV on Saturday,” she told SEN Mornings.

“It was hard not being there because I know how much work he has put in to get that spot on the team.

“Someone did film the guernsey presentation and sent it to me to watch the night before my race.

“It was a bit of a tear jerk. It was really special.

“I was thinking of Jack and he always sends real pump-up messages before a big race to me and I like to send him a special message before his games, so we help to motivate each other.”

Jess ran a personal best on the weekend in the Gold Coast Marathon, recording a time of 2hrs 26mins and 31 secs, finishing second behind Kenyan Ruth Chebitok.
