Melbourne's impressive presence in the WWE

2021-02-10T11:30+10:00

The growing number of Australians making an impression in the WWE continues with yet another export out of Melbourne a regular presence for the global leader in professional wrestling.

Indi Hartwell is the latest Aussie to join the WWE roster and is the 10th superstar from Down Under to be signed to the company, making her debut on the flagship Monday Night RAW program in a match against former UFC fighter Shayna Baszler.

"It was amazing, I got told the day before that I would be in the match and I couldn't belive it. I was so excited," Hartwell exclusively told SEN.

"I was also so scared because it's Monday Night RAW and that was my first glimpse of wrestling when I was eight years old!"

The 24-year old made her debut in 2016 and was a familiar face at Melbourne City Wrestling shows in Thornbury before moving to the United States after being signed to the WWE in 2019. Following her debut year in 2020, Hartwell is keen to make the most of her time away from home and prove herself in front of a worldwide audience.

"I'd definitely love to give it a crack at RAW or SmackDOwn in the future, but I feel like at the moment I have so much to accomplish in NXT," she added.

"Obviously winning the NXT Women's Championship would be a huge goal of mine"

With 10 Aussies on the WWE roster currently, there's still a friendly 'State Of Origin' rivalry amongst the wrestlers with Hartwell proudly still representing the Big V!

"The South Australians that have us outnumbered, we need more people from Victoria here!"
