Please note, the following article refers to gambling – this is R18, bet safely.

Whether you believe he is using his own money or not, Tim Myers, also known as Tim.Naki, has quickly become a social media sensation with his daily Blackjack posts.

Posting each reel to Instagram, the Kiwi content creator based in Calgary puts down 10 cents for every follower he gains on the platform, and it’s a strategy which has seen rapid growth.

Speaking with SENZ Afternoons earlier this month, Tim.Naki addressed how his daily dose of gambling entertainment has seen him go from placing bets of $15,000 in February, to now $100,000 in April.

“It is a disgusting amount (of money) being launched each day,” Myers admitted.

“We were just lucky. We won seven of the first ten days and we’ve been in profit all the way through. Essentially what we’ve got now, started with a $15,000 investment and it’s just dumb nonsensical luck.”

It’s not an uncommon ploy to attract more eyeballs to a page.

Teenage golf content creator Gabriella Degasperis, aka Gabby Golf Girl, has run similar initiatives where she would rack up a jackpot of one cent per follower gained until she scored her first hole-in-one, with the money being donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

But for Tim, he’s got people around the world hooked with the large stakes at hand, the big wins or losses that follow, and his larger-than-life personality.

Now his trajectory sees the Taranaki native in Las Vegas, placing a mammoth $100,000 combined bet to celebrate reaching one million followers. We won’t give away what happens, you’ll just have to watch his post on Instagram.
