Brian Waldron doesn’t understand Everitt exit

2016-11-02T14:47+11:00

The decision by Carlton to delist big man Andrejs Everitt is a confusing one for Brian Waldron who believes his output for the Blues warranted a spot on their list next season.

After just three years at Princes Park the 27-year-old at his third club was let go despite kicking 17 goals in 13 games this season after leading the Blues’ goal kicking ranks last year.

“Andrejs Everitt I don’t understand what he has done wrong,” said Waldron on SEN radio.

“Every time I watched him play he seems to play well, it might be an attitude thing but he’s another leading goal kicker that’s been given the flick by Carlton, which is odd.”

Sydney forward Xavier Richards has been another talking point this off-season after he parted ways with the Swans despite playing in ten of his 12 career games this year, including the Grand Final.

“I think the advice given to Xavier Richards has been parallel to a disgrace,” said Waldron.

“I don’t understand how they (his management) could after that period of time say, ‘we want to go somewhere’.

“They must be sure he’s going to be picked up somewhere to go down that path, yet they couldn’t do a trade for him.

“So I hope he ends up somewhere, how do you go from being the best 22 in a team playing in the Grand Final to not being wanted by anyone?”

Waldron also believes that a number of players that were cut by Fremantle will find another club during the delisted free agency period.

“There’s a few players at Fremantle that might get another chance,” he said.

“I think Barlow will go somewhere and Matt de Boer might get a gig.

“Alex Silvagni has played some decent defensive work, he’s a bit of a small defender though an in-between size.

“The other bloke that can play as a tall marking player is Jack Hannath.”
