Brayshaw leaves Nine, Hutchy new Footy Show co-host

2016-12-04T18:15+11:00

James Brayshaw and the Nine Network have split ways, with football reporter Craig Hutchison replacing him co-host of The Footy Show.

Brayshaw's shock announcement came as contract negotiations between the media personality, who also serves as North Melbourne chairman, and the network reportedly broke down.

Brayshaw was host of The Footy Show for 11 years, most of those with former co-host Garry Lyon, who left the show earlier this year due to personal issues.

The former cricketer also formed part of Nine's cricket commentary team up until 2015.

Brayshaw's Footy Show co-host for 2016, Rebecca Maddern, will now be partnered up with Craig Hutchison from next year onwards.

The journalist has served as host of Nine's Footy Classified and The Sunday Footy Show in recent years, alongside a host of radio and print media commitments.

Nine Melbourne's Managing Director Ian Paterson thanked Brayshaw for his time at the network, and says they are happy to announce Hutchison as his replacement.

"We are delighted to welcome Craig to the co-hosting chair on The Footy Show," he said in a statement.

"He is a first-class media performer and businessman with a proven track record in breaking some of the biggest AFL stories in history. He will be a terrific addition to the program alongside Rebecca.

“We thank James Brayshaw for his contribution for the past 11 years to The Footy Show and the network. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours.”
