2017 AFL pre-season games revealed

2016-12-07T11:10+11:00

The fixture for the newly-named 2017 JLT Community Series has been released, with a clash between traditional rivals Collingwood and Essendon to kick off the pre-season games next February.

The series once again will see each side play three games across four weeks of the competition, with a focus on games being played at country venues remaining from previous years.

The pre-season competition will see the return of football to North Melbourne's Arden Street home on February 26 in a game against Hawthorn, the first time a VFL/AFL game has been played there since 1985.

Suburban venues Whitten Oval, Casey Fields and Ikon Park will all host one game across the four weeks, with Moe and Bendigo to also host one match each for those in country Victoria.

Rivlary matches will kick off proceedings, with Essendon's returning players from suspension on display first up against Collingwood on February 16, with Hawthorn and Geelong facing off in Launceston the following day.

Several of the matches will also host double-headers with the debut season of the AFL Women's competition.
