I’m keen on the Saints to make finals for I loved the way they played last season, full of enthusiasm, full of spirit, they were entertaining to watch with quick ball movement and with an attacking mindset.
I want to see former Bomber Jake Carlisle play and the impact he will have in defence for the Saints, as centre half back is his best position and that’s what the Saints need to take the next big step – a key back who has the size and ability to take on gun forwards.
He must be flying on the track for Danny Frawley has already flagged he could be All-Australian in 2017.
Carlisle won’t have to go forward as a 'Mr Fix-It' for St Kilda has firepower in Paddy McCartin, Tim Membrey, Josh Bruce and of course Nick Riewoldt all make up a formidable group.
Carlisle will also get support from Nathan Brown the ex-Pie and the Saints midfield gets a boost with Jack Steele and Koby Stevens joining the club.
The Saints look locked and loaded to me and I expect them to fire a big shot against Port Adelaide to signal the Saints are finals bound.
