KB's Take | Dogs didn't throw their way to flag

2017-03-08T09:20+11:00

Wow! The Bulldogs win their first premiership in 62 years and it seems some of the other clubs are whinging and complaining as clearly they believe they were helped in winning the flag by using illegal handball.

It seems the Dogs are throwing and scooping the ball. That’s the only conclusion we can come to, as clubs have approached umpires boss Peter Schwab asking for a definition of incorrect disposal.

We know Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson highlighted his concerns after losing to the Dogs in the finals with his observation that the Hawks only received 3 free kicks for holding the ball after laying 105 tackles.

Of course, just because you lay a tackle, doesn’t have to equate to a free kick. That was a subtle shot at the umpires and the Bulldogs.

What is interesting in the Herald Sun today, it says the umpires will crackdown on illegal handball tactics and umpires will penalise players who use an open hand or a scooping motion.

Surely that is not a crackdown, that’s a given for umpires.

As I have said many times, just umpire to the rules of the game.

A clenched fist, striking the ball whilst being held by the other hand is not too difficult to understand.

I’m KB, that’s my take.
