Ratings | Round 6 – Adelaide v. Richmond

2017-04-30T19:45+10:00

Adelaide sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition with a demolition job on the previously undefeated Richmond, at the Adelaide Oval.

Our Inside Football experts take a look at the individual performances of each player...

ADELAIDE – 21.14 (140)

Rory ATKINS – 7

Hard to believe he has played less than forty games, outstanding on the wing.

Eddie BETTS – 5

Tried in vain to get that elusive 500th goal, credit to Dylan Grimes for keeping him honest.

Luke BROWN – 6

Rebounded magnificently after conceding two goals to Daniel Rioli in the first term, and stopped a certain third in the final minute.

Charlie CAMERON – 6

Didn’t have many disposals but the ones he did were deadly, two goals from three attempts and two goal assists.

Brad CROUCH – 7

Has eased back in the side with aplomb, won eight clearances and laid eight tackles.

Matt CROUCH – 8

Won a whopping 10 clearances and was the leading disposal winner on the ground with 38 and kicked a great goal from outside 50.

Richard DOUGLAS – 7

Unsung hero of the Crows midfield, doesn’t get the accolades of his more illustrious midfielders but has had a stellar start to 2017.

Curtly HAMPTON – 5

Had four clearances and four inside-50’s, unlucky not to get his name on the goal sheet.

Kyle HARTIGAN – 6

Had the unenviable task of lining up one on one with Dustin Martin out of the goal square, despite conceding one goal held his own.

Sam JACOBS – 8

Beat Toby Nankervis convincingly with 50 hit-outs, eight inside-50’s and a goal.

Josh JENKINS – 4

Slow return back from injured ribs, will be better for the body on body contests moving forward.

Jake KELLY – 5

Copped two heavy bumps in the first term from Trent Cotchin and Daniel Rioli respectively but bounced back admirably.

Rory LAIRD – 7

Average’s over 30 disposals per game for a defender, a jet across halfback.

Jake LEVER – 7

Intercept marking and attack on the footy as good as anyone in the game.

Tom LYNCH – 8

Six inside-50’s, three goals and three scoring assists, was on fire when the game was still a contest.

David MACKAY – 5

Kicking efficiency let him down despite finding plenty of footy.

Wayne MILERA – 6

Getting better with each game, needs to increase his possession tally but is damaging with the footy in hand.

Andy OTTEN – 6

One of the many highlights for the Crows in 2017, remember he hadn’t played a senior game for over two years and is starring.

Rory SLOANE – 8

Laid seven tackles in the third term alone, and finished hitting the scoreboard three times.

Brodie SMITH – 7

Big goal from outside 50 on the run in the second term, is a weapon across halfback with his penetrating kick.

Daniel TALIA – 7

Removed all doubt about his dodgy hamstring with a commanding display in defence.

Taylor WALKER – 9

Another dominant display as full forward and as all great captains do, leads by example.

RICHMOND – 10.4 (64)

David ASTBURY – 4

Tried his heart out but could not contain the brilliance of Tex Walker.

Dan BUTLER – 3

Five inside-50’s and a goal in the first term but very little after that.

Josh CADDY – 3

His major highlight was six tackles, not good enough when you are one of the team’s midfield stoppage leaders.

Jason CASTAGNA – 2

A miserly seven disposals, the speed and goal sense of previous weeks were not on display.

Reece CONCA – 4

Saw plenty of the footy down back but wasn’t offensive enough when the Tigers won the footy in defence.

Trent COTCHIN – 7

Richmond’s best player with six clearances, six inside-50’s and nine tackles.

Brandon ELLIS – 4

Mismatch in the third term when standing Tom Lynch, gave away height and two goals.

Shaun GRIGG – 5

Thrown into the ruck to give Toby Nankervis a chop out

Dylan GRIMES – 7

The only shining light in the Tigers defence and denied Eddie Betts his 500th career goal.

Bachar HOULI – 5

Too predictable, great player when on song but wasn’t in the contest.

Kane LAMBERT – 4

Kicked Richmond’s only goal in the third term. Quiet night.

Oleg MARKOV – 5

Pushed forward for two goals, one in the first term and a consolation goal in the last term.

Dustin MARTIN – 6

Interchanged with Cotchin as full forward, was dangerous when one on one but the situation didn’t eventuate often enough.

Kamdyn MCINTOSH – 5

Was prepared to leave his man and rebound forward, was okay amongst the carnage.

Steven MORRIS – 2

Received a lucky 50m penalty in the third term but shanked his kick and missed everything.

Toby NANKERVIS – 5

Competed well in ruck but was outplayed around the ground by Sam Jacobs.

Dion PRESTIA – 4

Didn’t impose himself in the game, when Richmond was crying out for leader to step up around the stoppages Prestia went missing.

Alex RANCE – 4

We know he’s the best defender in the game but he needs to stop the oppositions dominant forward first and then rebound second.

Jack RIEWOLDT – 5

One goal shy of his 500th, always presented but the footy just didn’t get down there often enough after quarter time.

Daniel RIOLI – 6

Big first term with two goals but come off a little worse for wear after his fair shepherd on Jake Kelly.

Jayden SHORT – 3

Unsighted, lacked the run and carry of previous weeks.

Nick VLASTUIN – 3

Played predominately as a small forward looked lively in the first term but soon faded out of the game.
