Hawks current direction worries me: Scott

2017-05-05T09:20+10:00

Three-time Hawthorn premiership player, Don Scott, has flagged his concern about the club’s current off-field direction.

The Hawks have purchased a 28-hectare site in Dingley, a piece of land where the club plans to build their new training and administration centre.

However, Scott has questioned the funding of the project.

“It does worry me,” Scott told SEN Breakfast.

“Where is the 100 million coming from?

“They were on a wave of positive momentum, but they have now gone down to Dingley and they need at least 100 million. Where is that money going to come from?”

Scott, who was a major player in stopping the Hawthorn/Melbourne merger in 1996, has also wondered whether the front office staff at the Hawks have an innate understanding of the modern football landscape.

The Hawks appointed Tracey Gaudry as their new CEO this week.

“I think the club is going down again,” Scott said.

“They aren’t what they were a few years ago. A lot of decisions are made by inexperienced officials who don’t watch how every club goes in a cycle.”

The Hawks and Demons square off this Sunday at the MCG.
