West Coast coming in a big way for Crows youngster

2017-05-29T16:00+10:00

SEN Adelaide correspondent, Tom Rehn, has reported the West Coast Eagles are intensely eyeing Crows forward, Mitch McGovern.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at seasons end, and with his brother Jeremy starring at the Eagles, there is a strong belief Mitch could join him.

“We are hearing West Coast is coming for McGovern in a strong, strong way,” Rehn told SEN’s The Run Home.

“The Eagles are massively coming for McGovern. I don’t think he is absolutely over the line, but they’re coming in a big way.”

McGovern has played just three games this season due to a hamstring injury, but showcased his talents in a thrilling 2016 campaign. The Claremont product kicked 32 goals last year and was a key cog in the Crows’ high octane offence.

However, another sought-after Adelaide player, Jake Lever, won’t be going anywhere according to Rehn.

“Jake Lever is almost over the line,” Rehn said.

“He will stay, no question. He loves it in Adelaide and is very settled.

“For mine, he is the next captain of the footy club. He is so humble, a very good leader and an intelligent guy. He is just a superb guy on and off the field.”
