McGregor predicts swift end to Mayweather bout

2017-07-12T14:00+10:00

UFC superstar Conor McGregor has boasted he will knock out Floyd Mayweather inside four rounds, as anticipation builds for their Las Vegas boxing bout.

Speaking at an expletive-laden joint press conference in Los Angeles, as part of a four-city media tour before the fight, McGregor said he held no fears of the undefeated (49-0) boxing legend.

“He is f---ed,” McGregor said.

"His little legs, his little core, his little head, I am going to knock him out inside four rounds, mark my words,” he said.

"He will be unconsciousness...he has never faced this. I don't fear him.”

McGregor, who was the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight divisions simultaneously, is competing in his first professional boxing match against Mayweather.

The 40-year-old American came out of retirement specifically for the fight, and brandished a $US100 million cheque during the press conference, which is reportedly the amount of money he will receive for the bout.

But McGregor was quick to dismiss Mayweather’s wealth, pointing out the American’s casual attire in front of the 20,000 strong crowd at the Staples Centre.

“He’s in a f---ing tracksuit! He can’t even afford a suit anymore,” McGregor taunted.

“He is f---ed. There’s no other way about it.”

“Money” Mayweather hit back, telling fans McGregor would never be able to amass the wealth from fighting that he had.

“He looks good for a seven or eight-figure fighter, but I'm a nine-figure fighter," Mayweather said.

"[He] made $3 million his last fight, but we know that's training camp money for me."

McGregor wore a tailor-made suit, with the words "f--- you" embroidered into the pinstripes, living up to 28-year-old Irishman’s “trash-talking” persona.

While Mayweather admitted he was long past his prime, he said he still had more than enough in him to knock out his Irish foe.

"I don't care if it's a ring or it's an octagon, I will kick ass. I don't back down for anybody," He said.

"You line them up and I will knock them down. On August 26, I'm gonna knock this b---- out too."

"I'm not the same fighter as I was years ago, but I got enough to beat you. God only made one thing perfect, and that is my boxing record."

Tickets for the fight cost up to $US10,000, and to watch on high definition pay-per-view, fans will have to fork out $US99.95.

The clash will take place on August 26, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
