Ratings | Round 18 – Collingwood v. West Coast

2017-07-23T18:10+10:00

A gutsy performance from Collingwood saw it storm home in the final quarter to swamp West Coast at Etihad Stadium.

Our Inside Football experts take a look at the individual performances of each player...

COLLINGWOOD – 13.15 (93)

Taylor ADAMS – 6

Solid workman like effort in midfield, but kicking skills still holding him back from elite status.

Jarryd BLAIR – 3

Barely sighted. Applied some forward pressure but needs to do more.

Jack CRISP – 7

Might have found his best role off the halfback line. Strong effort.

Jordan DE GOEY – 8

Split the game open in second half. More damaging in forward line than midfield. Finished with four match-winning goals.

Lynden DUNN – 4

Had the job on Darling, then shifted roles when Kennedy gave Goldsack a bath. Always provides honest effort defensively.

Jamie ELLIOTT – 5

Held closely all game but stepped up to be big in final term.

Alex FASOLO – 5

Looks like he is enjoying his footy again. Floated in and out, but was lively and bouncy when he was in the contest. Kicked sealer.

Tyson GOLDSACK – 2

Destroyed by Kennedy and was beaten in basically every one-on-one and had to be shifted.

Levi GREENWOOD – 7

Provided blueprint on how to shut down Gaff. Stuck on him like superglue in wonderful tagging role.

Brodie GRUNDY – 6

Easily on top in the ruck but not much impact around the ground.

Will HOSKIN-ELLIOTT – 7

Really coming into his own. Solid contributor all day.

Jeremy HOWE – 7

Yeo went to him early but that match-up faded. All-Australian standard becoming the norm.

Tom LANGDON – 5

Clean user in the back half. Mixed and matched on direct opponents.

Brayden MAYNARD – 3

Quiet day by the standards he has set for himself in recent weeks. Like Langdon, played multiple roles.

Darcy MOORE – 2

Saw no more of him after nasty head injury in second quarter. Little impact to that point.

Ben REID – 6

Looks a presence up forward. Made Barrass accountable more than once.

Steele SIDEBOTTOM – 5

Tagged by Hutchings. 20 disposals and down on normal influence.

Josh THOMAS – 4

Started on fire as a link between the middle and goal. Finding his feet at senior level again.

Adam TRELOAR – 7

Got 34 disposals but needs to use his speed more often. Had some key touches late when Pies surged.

Travis VARCOE – 3

Scary landing after big hit on the wing in third term. Not much influence with his 11 disposals.

Daniel WELLS – 5

Always clean and classy when he gets the ball. Just needed to get it more often.

Rupert WILLS – 4

Picked it up in the second half. Pressure was aggressive all day but just a bit contributor.

WEST COAST – 13.7 (85)

Tom BARRASS – 3

Needs to work on fundamental defensive skills. Also provided little the other way.

Tom COLE – 3

Little impact from the youngster. Had some shaky moments.

Jamie CRIPPS – 4

Finished with two goals and good forward pressure, but didn’t really impact the flow that much.

Jack DARLING – 6

Worked hard up the ground to clear the 50 for Kennedy. Another good performance.

Liam DUGGAN – 4

Not as proficient as last week. Didn’t make many mistakes until being run down by De Goey late in last term.

Andrew GAFF – 3

Tagged by Greenwood and had just 16 disposals. Struggled when accounted for.

Shannon HURN – 8

Skipper was intercepting and using it well out of defence all day. 29 disposals at 90 per cent.

Mark HUTCHINGS – 6

Had the job on Sidebottom and forced him to operate below normal standards. Played his part.

Lewis JETTA – 4

Little defensive effort…almost plays too cool on the field.

Josh KENNEDY – 9

Monster day. Back to his best with six goals and threatened to be the difference until Pies surge.

Mark LECRAS – 3

Hardly sighted. Doesn’t provide much when he fails to kick a goal.

Jeremy MCGOVERN – 7

Just reads the play like a child’s picture book. One of the game’s best interceptors.

Jackson NELSON – 2

No impact from dashing half back. Spot in senior side in danger.

Drew PETRIE – 3

Battled hard in the ruck but failed to combat Grundy. Had his moments.

Matt PRIDDIS – 6

No pace but he is still a bull inside with his contested work.

Jack REDDEN – 6

Finding some form now. Had it 24 times in the middle and did good defensive work at the coalface. Faded late though.

Will SCHOFIELD – 5

Played on the smalls (Elliott and Fasolo). Probably halved that battle. Two late frees against were costly.

Dom SHEED – 7

Coming into his own. Smooth mover in the midfield.

Brad SHEPPARD – 5

Had Elliott for most of the day. Dour defender contained him but the ones he lost were vital.

Luke SHUEY – 7

Picked it up in the second half. Seemed to get a hit in the knee late in the contest. Solid.

Nathan VARDY – 2

Was destroyed in the ruck and just four disposal. Zero impact…might have wondered back to Geelong, he was that invisible.

Elliot YEO – 7

Played forward mostly. Had some hard running, effort based moments, but late poster was momentum changer.
