Dusty and Richmond the perfect marriage says King

2017-07-27T18:31+10:00

Former Tiger assistant coach David King says Richmond’s use of Dustin Martin has allowed the Brownlow Medal fancy to take his game to another level.

The out-of-contract 26-year old is averaging 30 disposals a game and has kicked a career-high 23 goals in 2017, and the former North Melbourne premiership player described the marriage between Martin and the club regarding his role as “perfect”.

“He looks unstoppable one on one. I think the marriage right now for Dusty and Richmond is perfect,” King said on SEN’s Pure Footy.

“They’re using him in every way, shape, or form to enhance his assets and that’s enhanced his value.

“I think if he was at another team there’s no way he would be the kick-out option, and the down the line option, and then the full forward option, and then the midfielder.”

“He just wouldn’t be that player.”

In a year where the premiership is wide open, King believes the Tigers with their unique forward line setup can win the flag and warned rivals they would be opened up if they went with a line-up that is too tall.

“They’re a flukers chance for me,” he said.

“I know that everyone wants to say who’s going to win the flag and we’re still a long way away from that, but what they’ve got is they’ve got something that’s really difficult to matchup on.

“If you go in a fraction tall against Richmond look out.”
