Tanking? Pffft! North Melbourne put a huge dent in Melbourne's top-four aims with a gusty win against the odds in Hobart.

Our Inside Football experts take a look at the individual performances of each player...

NORTH MELBOURNE – 11.10 (76)

Shaun ATLEY – 5

Good early, then quiet second term. Bad miss at start of second half.

Ben BROWN – 9

Gave McDonald and Frost nightmares. Ended with four goals and was Roos' best in famous win.

Ryan CLARKE – 7

Won his fair share of ball in midfield. Hard worker around the contests and never stopped running.

Ben CUNNINGTON – 7

Good in close and works hard defensively. Stepped up a gear when needed in final term.

Majak DAW – 3

Rucked and floated forward to cause mismatches. Other than late mark, did nothing.

Trent DUMONT – 5

Quiet first half and efficiency was down when he got it. A bit better in final hour.

Sam DURDIN – 5

Stationed back but went forward for periods with the wind. Did a few good things.

Taylor GARNER – 6

Took some nice marks, but missed a sitter in third term. Great run down tackle on Oliver in last quarter a momentum setter.

Sam GIBSON – 6

Linked well off a wing to play a steady role.

Shaun HIGGINS – 7

Used ball well and had some key touches – including a goal – in final term stand.

Nathan HROVAT – 5

Had some smart touches in the front half. Okay without starring.

Luke MCDONALD – 7

Gave drive off a wing and at half back. Massive goal in third term and got the Roos rolling.

Declan MOUNTFORD – 4

Went to Garlett. Copped a knock in first term but came back on. Had trouble with Jeffy.

Aaron MULLETT – 6

Had plenty to do across half back when kicking into the wind. Crunched by Hogan in third term and was sore.

Daniel NIELSON – 6

Spent long periods on Watts and stood up well for a player in just his fourth game. Good effort.

Braydon PREUSS – 3

Back in the team and not a factor outside of ruck contests.

Jy SIMPKIN – 6

Nice goal in second quarter and kicked the eventual winner into the wind.

Andrew SWALLOW – 7

Industrious early on and was an expert at throwing himself forward to earn free kicks. Smart effort.

Robbie TARRANT – 5

Had job on Hogan until the Dee departed. Not a big say stats-wise.

Scott THOMPSON – 7

Sat loose when kicking into the breeze and even kicked a long goal. Part of a resolute back six.

Jarrad WAITE – 3

Lively start in attack, then troubled by calf problem and done for the day in third quarter.

Jack ZIEBELL – 7

Returned from a week off and rolled up sleeves to help will his team forward in frenetic final term.

MELBOURNE – 10.12 (72)

Sam FROST – 2

Defensively suspect when taking his turn on Brown. Has to be better than that.

Jeff GARLETT – 6

Kicked two into the wind in first term, but then missed a few gettable shots that proved costly.

Max GAWN – 7

A real factor in the ruck against Preuss and Daw, but aside from Oliver, Dees mids couldn’t capitalise.

Mitch HANNAN – 1

Tweaked elbow in second term and had no impact at all – zero kicks.

James HARMES – 4

In and out of the contest through middle and at half forward.

Michael HIBBERD – 7

Roos tried to negate his impact off half back but won a lot of the ball. Good again.

Jesse HOGAN – 2

Not easy opposed to Tarrant in such windy conditions. Injured arm/shoulder in third term and was done.

Jayden HUNT – 6

Slow start, but had big finish to second quarter. Late turnover sealed Dees fate.

Neville JETTA – 6

Booted in jaw by Daw early, then wasn’t totally himself for a while. Better in second half.

Jay KENNEDY-HARRIS – 5

Chipped in with some important contributions but drifted out of the game when it counted.

Jordan LEWIS – 7

Played loose into the wind and positioned himself very well. Team-orientated game.

Oscar MCDONALD – 1

Terrible defensively. Flogged by Brown when on him. Just so slow to react to his opponent’s movements.

Tom MCDONALD – 6

Copped an early knock to cheek, but a hard worker in attack. Kicked two goals.

Jake MELKSHAM – 4

Two smart goals in second quarter, but then wasn’t really a factor.

Alex NEAL-BULLEN – 3

Made bad decisions when he got it. A really poor outing after making great strides in recent weeks.

Clayton OLIVER – 8

A genius with his hands and work in tight areas. Kicked smart goal and had 13 clearances. Had few mates when it got it tough.

Christian PETRACCA – 4

Caught a few times, but then had trademark bursts. Had to impose himself in final term, but didn’t.

Christian SALEM – 5

Clean with most things he did at half back but then was a bit of a spectator.

Jack TRENGOVE – 3

Slow to cover the ground and a few basic turnovers were punished.

Dom TYSON – 7

Huge first half with 20 possessions. Influence waned a touch, but wasn’t allowed as much room.

Jack VINEY – 4

Just eight touches in opening hour and struggled to get into the game.

Jack WATTS – 2

Lacked intensity in attack when he had to step up. Nowhere near his best after return from injury.
