Gaz’s Giant Brownlow smoky

2017-08-07T10:54+10:00

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon believes there is a sneaky Brownlow chance who resides in Western Sydney.

In demand GWS midfielder Josh Kelly had another stellar performance on the weekend, amassing 27 disposals, 538 metres gained, 34 pressure acts, nine tackles and three goals, leading to Lyon declaring the 22-year-old as a chance for the game’s highest individual honour.

“My very word he is,” he said, when asked on SEN Breakfast whether or not Kelly is a Brownlow chance.

“I’d have him on the second line. I’d have Dustin Martin on top and Kelly second.”

In SEN Inside Football’s latest Brownlow Predictor, Kelly sits on 19 votes, while Martin is on top with 30 votes.

Kelly is averaging 29.1 disposals at 74 percent efficiency, 11.3 contested possessions, 7.3 score involvements, 6.4 tackles and 4.9 clearances this season, dismissing constant speculation about where the free agent will play next year.

Last year’s Brownlow Medallist, Patrick Dangerfield, is ineligible to win the award after receiving a one-match suspension for a careless tackle on Carlton’s Matthew Kreuzer earlier this season.
