St Kilda kept its faint finals hopes alive with a comprehensive victory over North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

Blake ACRES – 7

Had another 30 possession game which is a good indicator of his ongoing progress. Good day.

Jack BILLINGS – 7

Had another good game, but yet again could have capped it off with better kicking for goal.

Nathan BROWN – 6

Was on Ben Brown for most of the day and did a capable job.

Josh BRUCE – 6

Ran hard, jumped high and finished with 3.3 . Should have been more.

Jake CARLISLE – 6

Read play well in defence for intercept marks and was again sound down back. In scuffle at quarter time and reported twice.

Luke DUNSTAN – 7

Continued a good run of form in recent weeks and was strong across four quarters.

Jarryn GEARY – 6

Effective stopping role down back and worked industriously for four quarters.

Sam GILBERT – 5

Did plenty of good things but suffered abdominal injury and was forced off.

Jade GRESHAM – 6

Won more of the ball than he has done lately and his usage was also better than it has been.

Billy LONGER – 6

Stood his ground against big North rucks and won the most hit-outs of anybody on the field.

Tim MEMBREY – 6

One grab marking came to the fore especially late in the day and finished with handy three goals.

Productive and creative force off the wing and had a solid game.

Nick RIEWOLDT – 6

Saints fans cheered every time he touched the ball in his last appearance at Etihad. Did his bit.

Dylan ROBERTON – 7

Perfect anticipation and consistent good use of the ball made him a key element in the win.

Sebastian ROSS – 7

Kept ticking over all day with 36 disposals , 24 of them being handballs.

Shane SAVAGE – 6

Kicking was good out of defence and has re-established consistency in his footy.

Jack SINCLAIR – 6

Beautiful user of the ball on the wing and also did the defensive things.

Jack STEELE – 7

A strength in midfield and slapped on 11 tackles in hard edged display.

Jack STEVEN – 8

Racked up 40 disposals and North had no answer to him.

Koby STEVENS – 6

Was everywhere in first quarter with 10 touches. Impact reduced later on.

Jimmy WEBSTER – 4

Quieter game than usual at half back and didn’t have usual impact with kicking .

Maverick WELLER – 4

Tried hard and looked to move a bit more freely than in recent times.

NORTH MELBOURNE – 12.6 (78)

Shaun ATLEY – 5

Ran hard at the ball and was OK in defence without starring.

Ben BROWN – 4

On his namesake Nathan, led strongly early , but didn’t make the most of chances which was unusual.

Ryan CLARKE – 6

Won a lot of the ball and kept pumping away all four quarters.

Ben CUNNINGTON – 8

North’s best and was a prolific possession winner with 36 by day’s end.

Trent DUMONT – 5

Wasn’t the worst and did some handy things at times.

Sam DURDIN – 3

Minimal input despite being on the field for most of the game.

Taylor GARNER – 5

Does some genuinely brilliant things at times but not enough of it.

Sam GIBSON – 5

Toiled away honestly , but a few of his kicks were not up to usual standard.

Todd GOLDSTEIN – 6

Had a difficult day being poked in eye early and later limping off with knee pain. Beaten by Longer in taps.

Shaun HIGGINS – 8

Burst out of the blocks with big first quarter and maintained momentum with an excellent game.

Nathan HROVAT – 4

Bagged two goals but wasn’t a big ball winner.

Luke MCDONALD – 6

Won 26 disposals majority of which were by hand. Solid contributor.

Declan MOUNTFORD – 6

Worked hard and strongly as he did in first clash with Saints.

Daniel NIELSON – 0

On the wrong end of Bruce’s knee to head in marking contest and was in a sorry state. Stretchered off.

Braydon PREUSS – 3

Treated for shoulder problem in second quarter . Wasn’t a big influence on the game.

Jy SIMPKIN – 4

Showed flashes of brilliance and footy smarts, but needs to build his stats.

Andrew SWALLOW – 5

Workmanlike on the ball and never stopped trying.

Robbie TARRANT – 6

Had a heavy workload against Saints tall forwards, but was always agile and never conceded an inch.

Scott THOMPSON – 6

Usual antagonistic self down back on alternating Saint talls.

Kayne TURNER – 4

Did a few handy things on wing and half forward , but sometimes distracted by trying to ruffle Saints.

Jack ZIEBELL – 4

Stationed mainly at half forward which promotes queries on fitness. Wasn’t a major factor.

Cameron ZURHAAR – 3

Youngster only had limited impact.
