Former St Kilda chief executive Brian Waldron says the Saints are back in the hunt to sign Richmond superstar Dustin Martin.
It appeared in March that St Kilda had ruled itself out of trying to secure the raging Brownlow Medal favourite, however Waldron says they are back in the frame.
“There’s another one back in there – The Saints are having a crack,” Waldron told Hungry for Sport.
“They are having a big go right now.”
It is no secret that the Saints have the salary cap space – and draft picks – to be a major trade player having been linked with Greater Western Sydney star Josh Kelly, and formerly Fremantle's Nat Fyfe.
If St Kilda's rekindled interest in the former Bendigo Pioneer is correct, it would suggest that Kelly won't be landing at Moorabbin, with recent talk pointing to him possibly re-signing with the Giants.
As it stands, Martin appears to have two current offers on the table – a seven year deal at North Melbourne for around $1.5 million per year, or re-signing at Punt Road for around $1.2 million a year across a similar length of time.
