Pies interested in out of contract Bulldog forward

2017-08-30T09:00+10:00

Collingwood could look to solve its forward dilemma by recruiting out of contract Western Bulldog Stewart Crameri.

Crameri only managed two senior games in 2018 due to ongoing hip issues, but Sam McClure believes that the Magpies are showing interest in pairing him with Darcy Moore.

“I think Collingwood are asking the question about Stewart Crameri,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“He’s out of contract at the Western Bulldogs. He’s just turned 29.

“His best and most consistent years with both Essendon the Western Bulldogs he was a mid-30s goal kicker (and) the Pies are looking for a partner for Darcy Moore to have a two-pronged attack up there.”

Former Bulldogs skipper Bob Murphy said he believes Crameri still has a lot to give, but his injury woes have meant that he hasn’t been able to be at his best.

“As far as physical, raw talent – he’s a beast,” he said.

Elsewhere, McClure says that the Bulldogs have re-kindled their interest in Brisbane ruckman Stefan Martin.

The Dogs tried to lure the big man to the kennel a few years ago, but were unable to pry him from the Lions.

Murphy said that a player of Martin’s calibre would be enticing to any club.

“We’ve got Tom Campbell, Jordan Roughead and Tim English, but a good one like Stefan Martin – he really has done it for a long time, so if you could get him, I think that you’d probably have a go.”
