SEN Breakfast news breaker Sam McClure is reporting a Carlton superstar will seek a move home to South Australia in the offseason.
After his trade request to the Adelaide Crows fell through last year, McClure says Bryce Gibbs will go through the process again, in hope he lands back in his home state.
“Adelaide is preparing for another major play at Carlton’s Bryce Gibbs,” he told SEN Breakfast.
“I think he will prefer to play football in South Australia for family reasons. Gibbs has yet to ask the club for an official trade request, but I expect that will come. He is still contracted for another two years.
“It is an intriguing situation because Stephen Silvagni stuck to his guns at the end of the trade period last year and said they wouldn’t get it done, unless these are the deals. He has another two years, and I expect him to ask to go home again, so it’ll be fascinating to see what Carlton’s response will be.”
At the end of last season, Gibbs was seeking a move to the Crows, but they wouldn’t give up the extra draft pick the Blues demanded in the deal.
Gibbs played 22 games this season, averaging 26.8 disposals, 381.2 metres gained, 10.1 contested possessions, 5.9 tackles, 5.6 score involvements and 5.0 clearances per game.
