Ratings | PF – Adelaide v. Geelong

2017-09-22T22:55+10:00

Adelaide flexed its muscles to book its first Grand Final berth in nearly two decades by dismantling Geelong.

Our Inside Football experts take a look at the individual performances of each player...

ADELAIDE – 21.10 (136)

Rory ATKINS – 7

So outside was the game even he joined in for 22 disposals and five inside-50s. Huge in linking team.

Eddie BETTS – 5

Was shut down by Bews for most part but had to kick a couple of goals given weight of ball.

Luke BROWN – 5

Dour defender did what the coach asked and was able to nullify the Cats’ forwards.

Charlie CAMERON – 9

Huge effort. Took a screamer and jagged five goals. Sheeesh.

Brad CROUCH – 8

Massive first half netted 15 touches and kept it going to end with 29 and eight clearances.

Matt CROUCH – 8

Busier than a set of jumper leads at a country funeral for 31 disposals, six clearances and five tackles.

Richard DOUGLAS – 6

Chipped in for 19 touches and four tackles. Supported star cast brilliantly.

Hugh GREENWOOD – 1

A Yeti was seen more than him. Four effective touches and gave zilch.

Kyle HARTIGAN – 4

Got the Hymie from Get Smart look going but played it well. Did his job.

Sam JACOBS – 7

Dominant display by the bloke who has some serious good footy left in him. Set tempo early.

Josh JENKINS – 7

Chimed in to kick four goals and was always dangerous inside forward 50.

Jake KELLY – 6

Young defender did all the right things throughout and was a handy contributor.

Riley KNIGHT – 5

Spare parts midfielder did what he could with 14 disposals. Handy throughout.

Rory LAIRD – 9

Oompa loompa down back was a willing worker who poured a lot into the chocolate river.

Jake LEVER – 6

Played a key role down back; 14 of his 15 possessions hit the target.

Tom LYNCH – 7

Can’t miss him with that hair but Cats seemed to all night as he racked up 20 touches and two goals.

David MACKAY – 6

When he plays well its is usually bad for the opposition because he jumps on board the bandwagon; 18 touches.

Andy OTTEN – 4

Played his role without getting too aroused by his effort; 13 disposals and one goal.

Paul SEEDSMAN – 7

Couldn’t get into the team for most of year but got in and played like a star; 19 disposals and two goals.

Rory SLOANE – 6

Solid without starring for 20 disposals and three inside-50s. Eight clearances and six score involvements.

Daniel TALIA – 8

Dour as a draught horse but did a number of Hawkins who had held comprehensively.

Taylor WALKER – 6

Skipper got mobile for two goals, five inside-50s and 10 score involvements.

GEELONG – 10.15 (75)

Jed BEWS – 4

Had the task on Betts and stuck to it ok but did make some mistakes. Got two-year deal, which was good.

Mark BLICAVS – 2

Struggled. Fumbled, looked slow and was hammered in his midfield match up.

Nakia COCKATOO – 3

Kicked team’s first goal and that was about. Got through the game, which was the ironic positive.

Patrick DANGERFIELD – 6

Apart from second term he was never in the game; 13 effective possessions but did kick two goals.

Mitch DUNCAN – 6

Started well but after quarter time he was not in the game at all; 14 effective possessions.

Tom HAWKINS – 2

Two effective disposals in first half and four for the match in what was a poor return from key forward.

Lachie HENDERSON – 4

Team tried to jag him loose in defence and pushed forward late. Not his fault team was crushed.

Jake KOLODJASHNIJ – 3

Defensively or offensively he was not a factor. At stage of career where game has to go to next level

Darcy LANG – 3

Glory lasted one week. Horrendous in what is likely last game for the club. One nice goal but that was it.

Tom LONERGAN – 4

Great career ended in a fizzle but he can hold his head high for what he’s achieved.

Andrew MACKIE – 4

Struggled all nigh to alter the flow of the game. Great career didn’t end the way he would have hoped.

Sam MENEGOLA – 2

Horrific. Most times he got it the ball went to the opposition and was a clanger king on the night.

Daniel MENZEL – 2

Poor in what was probably last time in the hoops. Didn’t kick a goal and was never a factor.

Steven MOTLOP – 6

Ironic he played last game for Cats and was one of their best in a beaten side. At least looked dangerous when he got it.

Brandan PARFITT – 2

Kid couldn’t get near it. Good year and learned a little in what’s been a pretty good season; four effective disposals.

Joel SELWOOD – 6

Plugged away as best he could but was he could without huge support. Looked sore by the end of the game.

Scott SELWOOD – 4

Injured early and while returned he was not a factor at all; 10 effective disposals.

Zac SMITH – 2

Hammered early by Jacobs. When he gets challenged in big games he’s got to find ways to lift.

Rhys STANLEY – 1

Unable to get any ball that hurt the Crows and was an unmitigated disaster. Can turn it over with the best of them.

Tom STEWART – 4

Battled away down back but for the most part he was a disaster area. Great learning year.

Harry TAYLOR – 5

Used in defence on Walker and defensively ok but very little going the other way.

Zach TUOHY – 4

Forget the 22 disposals he finished what’s been a solid year with an absolute howler. Beaten one-one-one and turned it over.
