Queue forming for Eagles running machine says Gossage

2017-10-03T17:07+11:00

Despite Andrew Gaff’s name being heavily linked with a move to St Kilda, other Victorian clubs have serious interest in the West Coast midfielder, according to SEN’s WA correspondent Tim Gossage.

He believes Hawthorn could be leading the chase, with Melbourne another club keen to utilise his run and carry.

“It’s the perennial trade talk that’s been around for a couple of years on Andrew Gaff,” Gossage said on SEN’s The Run Home.

“His name is certainly on the agenda, there’s little doubt about that. I’m not saying that’s coming from Andrew Gaff’s camp at all, but I can assure you the coat tuggers were pulling my coat last week.

“I’m talking of a Melbourne official when asked was Gaff any chance of ending up at the Demons, and he said ‘we are in the queue behind Hawthorn’.

“I’m not saying that Hawthorn are at the front of the queue, but clearly there is a queue and Andrew Gaff would be a handy pickup.”

While the Eagles see the 25-year old as a required player, he is adamant if the right proposal is accepted, Gaff would be accepting of a move home.

“He has a year left on his contract, but Andrew Gaff is certainly very prominent, albeit I think he’s a required player at West Coast,” Gossage said.

“But, if the right offer comes along, as we know, he certainly would be up for a trade and I don’t think he would be against it.”

Gossage also revealed where he expects several interstate based West Australians will end up.

Jesse Hogan – He’s on everyone’s agenda, very much at Fremantle. Very much the mail is Jesse does spend a lot of time back home for personal reasons, and gets back when he can.

Perth is where I think he genuinely wants to be, Fremantle don’t want to go away with this one. They want to hang in there.

Brandon Matera – Locked away. Will end up at Fremantle.

Nathan Wilson – Lock it away, he will be back in Western Australia.
