Watts set to nominate club of preference: McClure

2017-10-09T06:52+11:00

SEN news breaker Sam McClure has revealed Jack Watts is set to nominate his club of preference.

The out of favour Melbourne forward is prepared to select Port Adelaide as his preferred club.

“Jack Watts has met with the Geelong footy club, but I can confirm to you now that over the weekend, Jack Watts has come to terms with the fact he would be able, and happy to, move interstate,” McClure said on SEN Breakfast.

“He will be nominating the Port Adelaide football club as his preferred destination, forget about the other clubs interested. Jack Watts, Melboure and Port Adelaide will sit down at 9am today when the trade period starts and try to get a deal done.”

The 26-year-old battled injury and form issues this season, playing 16 games and kicking 22 goals. Watts averaged 15.7 disposals this year, his lowest rate since 2013.

He is contracted at Melbourne until the end of 2019.
