Dal Santo outlines “fantastic” potential Magpie recruit

2017-10-12T08:37+11:00

Three-time All-Australian Nick Dal Santo has identified a Sydney Swan he believes would be a “fantastic” acquisition for Collingwood.

Kurt Tippett, who the Swans are reportedly keen to move on, could fill a pressing need for the Magpies. Even though admitting he believes Tippett is a “ruckman first,” Dal Santo is of the notion the 30-year-old could assist in the Pies’ front half, which lacks key position posts.

“I think as a forward option, he would be fantastic for Collingwood to support Darcy Moore,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“Why his name hasn’t been brought up, I’m not sure. The Swans need to offload someone like Kurt Tippett to free up some cap space.”

Richmond were reported to be one of the clubs interested in Tippett during the season, but after they won a premiership with just one tall forward target, they have cooled on the former Adelaide Crow.

“Throughout the year, I thought the two clubs that would be desperate for a Kurt Tippett during the football season was Collingwood and Richmond,” Dal Santo said.

“I completely accept Richmond may not be a suitor right now because of this forward structure that has worked so well for them. They’ve won a Grand Final and they love five little whippets running around at the feet of Jack Riewoldt.”

Tippett played just nine games in 2017, booting seven goals in those appearances.
