Bains ready for Bulldogs challenge

2017-10-23T18:30+11:00

New Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains says he foresees no issues working with president Peter Gordon, after becoming the club’s fourth CEO in three years.

The St Kilda chief operating officer succeeds Gary Kent in the post, with Simon Garlick and David Stevenson also spending stints in the role.

He told SEN’s The Run Home that the Bulldogs are fortunate to have someone who plays a major role in moving the club forward and has already started to build a good rapport with the hands-on president.

“There will be no issues there. I think the club is fortunate to have a loyal, committed, passionate man at the helm like Peter, and he plays a great role in positioning the club the way he does,” Bains said.

“I see that as a really positive relationship going forward.

“Peter, as you would expect as the president had a strong hand in the selection process, so we spent a fair bit of time together recently, and we’ve established a great rapport, so I’m looking forward to working with Peter and taking the bulldogs forward.”

Bains said he is excited to be joining a club that has had major success both on and off field in recent years.

“Through the process I’ve grown very excited about the opportunities that await for me at the Bulldogs,” he said.

“They’ve obviously had a lot of success recently, won the premiership 13 months ago, strong commercial growth, record membership attendances, pioneering women’s footy.

“I think it’s a really exciting time to be joining the club and I’m hoping I can play my part in that going forward.” Bains will remain at St Kilda until December, in order to see the handover of key off-field projects at the Saints.
