Move to Adelaide will be good for Watts: Choco

2017-10-23T16:09+11:00

Port Adelaide premiership coach Mark Williams believes a change of scenery will benefit new Power recruit Jack Watts.

After nine-years at Melbourne, Watts made the move to Alberton during the recent trade period after being deemed surplus to requirements by the Dees.

Williams can’t question the forwards friendly persona, but he has warned the 26-year-old to brace himself for the ruthless nature of the Adelaide media when he joins Ken Hinkley's squad for pre-season.

“Everything people have said about him is that he is a lovely, lovely person. I remember interviewing him and thinking about him. He was a little bit along the lines of Nick Dal Santo, maybe he is too nice,” he told SEN Afternoons.

“I would think being away his support network might be the best for him because he comes home and someone at home might say ‘Jack you were great today.’

“Whereas if you are in a different town under the heat of the Adelaide Advertiser and the reporting that goes on there it is very hard to miss the spotlight so you better be ready and you better be able to deliver every week.

“I’m looking forward to Jack taking that on and I wish him the absolute best because he is a wonderful person.”

Watts played 153 games for the Dees since making his debut in 2009 booting 143 goals.
