Are the Matildas better to watch than the Socceroos?

2017-11-23T18:24+11:00

Having won their past six internationals and scoring 19 goals in the process, David Schwarz says the Matildas have become a more exciting team to watch than their male counterparts.

Led by brilliant striker Sam Kerr, the sixth ranked side outclassed China 3-0, in front of a crowd of over 10,000 fans at AAMI Park last night, with the West Australian scoring twice, including a spectacular long range strike to seal victory in the 64th minute.

“I reckon the Matildas were more exciting to watch than the Socceroos,” Schwarz said on SEN’s The Run Home.

“More open, many more chances and more exciting in a lot of respects.”

Kerr has scored nine goals in her past five internationals, and Schwarz said the younger sister of former West Coast Eagles premiership player Daniel is the current poster girl for Australian sport.

“Daniel Kerr was a freakish footballer, but she is good, she’s quick. She’s the poster person for Australian sport at the moment Sam Kerr, she’s everywhere,” he said.

The Matildas will play the second match of the series against China in Geelong this Sunday, with kick-off at 4.30pm.
