The shock Dee who could play in season opener according to coach

2018-02-15T08:53+11:00

Melbourne AFLX coach Craig Jennings has named an unknown Demon who is in consideration to line-up in the Round 1 clash against Geelong.

Bayley Fritsch, who was drafted by Melbourne with pick 31 in the 2017 draft, has been named in the AFLX team, something that could springboard his preparation for the season opener.

“Bayley is a real chancer to play round one,” Jennings told SEN Breakfast.

“There is a lot of work to do, but tomorrow night gives him a really good opportunity to get the cobwebs out, put the jumper on, get familiar with the cameras and get some exposure.

“He played some good footy last year and he probably would have played AFL if he was on a list last year.

“I was pretty keen to get him into the side so he gets some exposure to big time footy.”

Fritsch is a dynamic small forward who starred with the Casey Demons in 2017.

He finished fifth on the VFL’s goal kicking leaderboard with 42 majors in 19 games, and is known for his ability to read the ball and mark overhead.
