“No rush” on Moore contract says manager

2018-02-20T09:01+11:00

Darcy Moore’s manager Liam Pickering has reiterated there is no urgency to reach a new deal with Collingwood.

According to Pickering, the number one aspect on Moore’s mind is making a full recovery from a nagging achilles injury, and then contract talks will commence.

Despite Magpies footy boss Geoff Walsh telling SEN last week that the father-son star is “very committed” to the club, his manager says those discussion haven’t yet taken place.

“I assume he does,” Pickering told SEN Breakfast, when asked if Moore wants to play for Collingwood.

“We haven’t got that far down the track. He said, let me get myself to the point where I can start playing.

“His priority is to play. I think he is right to go for the JLT. It’ll take care of itself.

“We have had a couple of chats, but there is no great rush on this one.”

Walsh expressed a similar tone of calmness last week.

“Ned Guy has started talks with Liam Pickering, so we have started there and from our point of view, he is a player who is a strong part of our future and we want to do something there as quick as we can,” he said.

“I don’t anticipate any problems.”

Moore has kicked 58 goals across three seasons, often playing as a lone ranger in the Magpies’ forward line.

He is set to take up a spot across the halfback line this season, as Nathan Buckley searches for the right mix to lead his side to the finals for the first time since 2013.
