CEO Gale explains ‘all-time’ interest in Richmond

2018-02-21T13:41+11:00

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale has given some insight into how the club has again broken its own membership record.

On the back of their drought-breaking premiership triumph in 2017, the Tigers have crashed through their previous membership ceiling of 75,777.

For the eighth year in a row, the Tiger Army has voted with their feet by buying in and showing their loyalty, prompting Gale to explain why on SEN Afternoons.

“(It’s) not so much the number, I think it’s the underlying relationship with the club and its members,” he said.

“What it tells me that our members, and I know this because there’s evidence in an AFL membership satisfaction research survey, we have about 7,000 respondents every year.

“Our members are highly engaged and there’s high trust.

“By and large, their experience matches expectation. If you get those things right, the number takes care of itself.

“It’s the engagement, the strength of the connection, the trust and the buy-in.”

Adding further to Richmond’s off-field success, Head of Marketing Ben Jenkins said: “The interest in the club is at an all-time high.

“In terms of the numbers, they are going really well. We did announce this morning that we’ve broken the all-time club membership record for the eighth consecutive year, which is huge.

“Never this early though. We’ve just pushed through 75,777 which is a credit to everyone involved at the club – from the players, coaches and on-field success last year – but everyone that’s worked off the field so hard to create the momentum and connection between the club and the fans.”
