In the aftermath of a fiery day four of the First Test, footage has emerged of a heated exchange between Australian batsman David Warner and South African wicket keeper Quinton De Kock during the Tea break at Kingsmead.

In the CCTV pictures obtained by Independent Media, the scuffle started at the bottom of the stairs, with Warner eventually having to be restrained by Usman Khawaja and Tim Paine, before rival captains Faf du Plessis and Steve Smith stepped in to resolve the fracas.

Cricket Australia say they are aware of the scuffle but will not comment further until an investigation is undertaken.

"CA is aware of reports of an incident between players in Durban. CA is working to establish the facts of what occurred and will not be commenting until this has been done," Cricket Australia said in a statement.

It wasn’t the first controversial moment of the day’s play, after much was made of Warner and Nathan Lyon’s celebrations following the crucial run out of Proteas star AB de Villiers, amid accusations Lyon disrespectfully dropped the ball on the ground right near the fallen batsman.

Despite a brilliant 143 from Aiden Markram, the Aussies require just one wicket on the final morning to take the series lead, as South Africa slumped to 9/293 at stumps, 124 runs short of an unlikely victory.

You can hear live coverage of Day Five on SEN from 6.30pm, with play beginning at 7pm.
