GWS football operations manager Wayne Campbell has shared the latest news regarding star midfielder Dylan Shiel’s injury at training today.
The 25-year-old was involved in a head clash with a teammate, with the initial worry that Shiel had either sustained a concussion or injured his shoulder or neck.
Despite a stretcher being called to the field, Campbell says Shiel has escaped the clash without any major concerns.
“He got a little knock to his head but he got up and walked off…It looked dire but he’s OK,” the Giants footy boss told SEN Afternoons with Andy Maher.
“It was a bit of stinger on the shoulder and hurt his neck a little bit, but he’s not concussed, his shoulder is OK and his neck is OK, which was pretty good after what looked like it might not have been the greatest scenario for us.”
Campbell says that Shiel is almost certain to recover in time for their Round 1 clash against the Western Bulldogs.
“Right now I’d say he’s certain unless something pops up,” he said.
“Obviously I’ve asked the doctors if he’s OK and they said he’s absolutely clear.
“Unless something untoward happens in the next day or two, he’ll be fine.”
