Comedian Andy Lee has confirmed he spoke with Mick Malthouse before Carlton put out a membership video which some have said mocked the former coach.
The Blues posted a video yesterday involving numerous comedians, including fanatical Carlton fans Lee, Dave Hughes and Sam Pang, where Lee’s dad is introduced to the group, with a resemblance to Malthouse.
The group then questions whether or not the legendary coach should be allowed to return to the Blues, something the Herald Sun reports has made Malthouse “privately disappointed.”
However, Lee has confirmed Malthouse was consulted with prior to the video being published.

“I did speak to Mick on this one,” the comedian told SEN Breakfast.
“I make all these off my own bat with Hugesy and Pangy.
“I gave this one to the club and they liked it but said have you reached out to Mick? I said not yet, but that’s the plan, I wanted to check with you guys first.
“They were comfy, so I contacted Malthouse to see if he was comfy and he said it was.
“He actually said my dad does look like a dead ringer of him, so that gave me a level of comfort to go ahead.
“Hame (Hamish Blake) and I do that with everything we do, we with our style of humour, you never want to be taking the mickey out of people as Robbo (Mark Robinson) would say, but Robbo took a different opinion.”
Lee said he sent Malthouse the video via text message before it was piublished, and got the ok from him.
However, SEN newsman Sam Edmund said, “in a perfect world, he (Malthouse) wouldn’t want the campaign done,” as if he said no to the campaign, it would make him look precious.
