Walker furious with Adelaide camp leak

2018-03-27T18:35+11:00

Adelaide’s unique pre-season camp on the Gold Coast has taken another turn, with SEN news breaker Sam McClure revealing Crows captain Taylor Walker was unimpressed with the leaking of details from the event to the media.

According to McClure, the fallout from the camp has left several players questioning their future at the club.

“It hasn’t gone down well in Adelaide overnight that, that story was broken,” he said on SEN’s Time On.

“My understanding is Taylor Walker has sent a fairly terse text message to teammates last night, demanding to know who it was that leaked the information, about the training camp.

“This training camp as (Fox Footy reporter) Tom Morris reported last night has several players, my understanding is, including one of their key players, reconsidering their future, that is how distraught they were left after elements of this camp.

“It has left them, and the subsequent events with players questioning the club’s culture.

“Walker’s reaction I’m led to believe is after a pact was made following the camp that no-one outside of the four walls of the Adelaide Football Club would know about it.”

Earlier on AFL Nation, Adelaide CEO Andrew Fagan explained the benefits of the camp.

“We’ve generally trained out of Adelaide but we took the boys away, we thought it would be a good opportunity to get out of Adelaide,” he said.

“There were elements of the camp where we deliberately threw a little bit of confusion into it.

“Don Pyke has done a bit of that throughout the preseason and just turned up and let the boys run training for themselves.

“They sort of wonder what’s going on and then they work out, we got to work this sort for ourselves because the coaches can’t be out there on the playing arena during the game.

“We want ensure the players are developing as leaders and coping with demands that are unplanned for.

“We had a little bit of that worked into the preseason camp, which was a bit of fun.”
