Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League 2018 season preview

2018-04-04T14:05+11:00

In the lead-up to the 2018 local footy league seasons, SEN will be dissecting a number of competitions. Today, we take a look at the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League.

Super signings: Jarrad Grant, Brandon Tilley (Frankston Bombers), Josh Patullo, Khan Haretuku (Frankston YCW), Max Gearon, Mitch Lindsay, Jack Kerr, Thomas Hobbs (Mornington), Joe Fisscher, Mike Cook, Luke Verma (Bonbeach), Liam Hulett, Sam Monaghan, Tim Kelly (Edithvale-Aspendale), Jordan Moncrieff, Mitch McCarthy, Blake Mullane (Mt Eliza), Joshua Harris (Rosebud), Matt Terech, Matt Gundry, Sam Lonie (Seaford), Mitch Hallahan, Jake Di Pasquale (Sorrento).

Coaching merry-go-round: Simon Goosey (Mornington), Luke Tapscott (Sorrento).

League Insider says:

Premier: Frankston YCW.

Watch out for: The great unknown. With Sorrento, the Frankston Bombers and Rosebud joining the former Peninsula teams in a new division one competition—and myriad changes on lists elsewhere—even the most trusted crystal balls are looking foggy. Expect to be surprised.

SEN says:

Premier: Frankston YCW.

Watch out for: Whether or not Sorrento’s form stays sweet. Given the Sharks were the 2017 Nepean League premier it’s logical to project them as the best-performed of the trio of “promoted” clubs, but a rocky off-season that saw veteran coach Tony Blackford appointed in October and replaced by March (with Luke Tapscott) means there are major queries.

As it was:
