2018-04-04T14:44+10:00

We’re only one round into the season, but the injury lists are already becoming a factor in how teams perform week to week.

Here’s all the injury news ahead of round two.

Adelaide

The big news for Adelaide this week was All-Australian midfielder Matthew Crouch joining his brother on the sidelines. Crouch will miss three weeks with a hamstring. The Crows are building a considerable injury list and will hope Rory Sloane, David McKay and Tom Lynch are able to come off it for their Saturday night clash with St Kilda. Carlton

It was a bad week to be a Carlton defender with Irish pair Ciaran Byrne and Cillian McDaid suffering quad and foot injuries respectively. Alex Silvagni will miss a week or two with a hamstring injury and Tom Williamson will remain on the sidelines for another three to four weeks with a hot spot in his back. The club is adamant Matthew’s Kreuzer and Kennedy will get up to face Collingwood on Friday night, while Darcy Lang should be available for selection in the VFL. It was a week of mixed news for the Pies with the biggest concerns being Kayle Kirby’s heart issue in the VFL that required an ambulance being called to the game and Tim Broomhead’s broken leg. Losing Tom Scully with an ankle injury after just getting him back to full fitness is a massive blow for the Giants and he’s set for a decent stint on the sidelines with the ankle injury he was stretchered off with against Collingwood. Ryan Griffen got through limited minutes in the NEAFL and is on the road back to the senior side.
