Is there a genuine chance Lynch leaves Adelaide?

2018-04-06T07:55+10:00

SEN newsman Sam Edmund has reported forward Tom Lynch and the Adelaide Crows are still a “fair way off” on the terms of a new contract.

Edmund wrote the story in today’s Herald Sun, and expanded on it on SEN Breakfast this morning, confirming the 27-year-old could come back home to Victoria.

“I think that’s the feeling,” he said, when asked if there is a genuine chance of getting Lynch out of Adelaide at the moment.

“As it stands, the Tom Lynch camp and the Adelaide Football club camp are a fair way off on paper in terms of the length of deal and the monetary value.”

In the newspaper, Edmund wrote, “both parties have different opinions on what Lynch is worth.”

Lynch will make his season debut tomorrow night at Etihad Stadium against St Kilda, after missing the first two weeks with a side strain and virus.

Former Essendon captain Tim Watson believes the 27-year-old works well in the Crows’ forward structure, and his value is growing.

“He is worth between 600-700 thousand a year,” he said.

“I think Adelaide will wait and see what he produces this year.

“He plays beautifully in a forward line that organises themselves as well as the Adelaide Crows forward line. He is the conduit.”

Melbourne team of the century member Garry Lyon thinks “there wouldn’t be a club in the competition that wouldn’t welcome Tom Lynch into their set-up.”

The Crows also have superstar Rory Sloane out of contract at the end of 2018.
