Cameron “in a bit of strife” with suspected toe injury

2018-04-16T17:56+10:00

Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron touched down in Sydney in a moon boot and is in doubt for this week’s match against St Kilda, according to AFL Nation commentator Russell Barwick.

Cameron looked very proppy during the Giants' 31-point win over Fremantle but managed to complete the match and have a big impact with 20 disposals, 12 marks and two goals.

“He (Cameron) does have a real problem with his toe,” Barwick told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“I sat next to him on the place flying back and he is in a moon boot - I would say he is in a bit of strife.

“He (Cameron) looked in real discomfort when he got on the plane. We thought there was no issue but then when he put the moon boot on and I was told he had a problem with his toe that sort of made sense.”

With games against struggling duo St Kilda and the Brisbane Lions over the next fortnight, Barwick believes the Giants could err on the side of caution and back themselves to get the job done without the 25-year-old.

“I don’t think whether they will risk him in some of the matches coming up because the Giants have got St Kilda and the Brisbane Lions coming up,” he said.

“If you’re going to have a little bit of a break, perhaps the next two weeks for the Giants might be an opportune time to sneak a couple of players a week off just to give them a rest.”

Cameron has started the season brightly booting 14 goals in his first four outings.

GWS will look to continue their winning ways this Saturday at Etihad Stadium against the Saints. You can listen to the game live on 1116 SEN from 1:00pm with Jack Heverin, Kevin Bartlett, Adam Cooney and Daisy Pearce.
