Saints staying calm amid disappointing start

2018-04-16T19:24+10:00

St Kilda footy boss Simon Lethlean says the focus is solely on balancing the win-loss ledger, as the Saints look to bounce back from their poor start to the 2018 campaign.

Alan Richardson’s men have suffered a string of three straight heavy defeats, losing to North Melbourne, Adelaide and Geelong by an average of 49.3 points.

While admitting the season hasn’t gotten off to a good start, Lethlean has ensured the Saints are now preparing for Greater Western Sydney on Saturday and won’t let the opening month derail their year.

“It certainly hasn’t gone the way you want it to go in the first four rounds,” he told SEN’s Time On.

“You would probably love to be even keel at 2-2 and then be prepared to launch into the next four or five weeks.

“We are 1-3, got some tough opponents, but there aren’t many easy games in AFL footy.

“We would love to get back to even keel as fast as we can and it starts against the Giants this week. By all reports from people who know our performances, that was our best performance last year, even including the Richmond game.

“We will go in there, have a big crack and see what we can do. A win against a good team can really right the ship and get you back on course and that’s our plan.”

You can listen to the St Kilda v GWS game live on 1116 SEN from 1:00pm on Saturday with Jack Heverin, Kevin Bartlett, Adam Cooney and Daisy Pearce.
