“I would always go after Cotchin”: Wallace

2018-04-20T09:25+10:00

Former Richmond coach Terry Wallace says teams should make a concerted effort to target Tigers captain Trent Cotchin.

After Melbourne skipper Nathan Jones did a solid job of containing Hawthorn ball magnet Tom Mitchell, the question on SEN’s Time On whether he could do another blanketing job on reigning Brownlow Medallist Dustin Martin.

While Martin has taken all before him in recent times, the three-time premiership Hawk believes nullifying the premiership skipper could be key in posing more questions to Damien Hardwick’s side.

“I would always go after Cotchin and that’s only from the utmost respect,” Wallace said on SEN's The Match Committee.

“You’ve seen in the past that he has been ‘gettable’ on occasions.

“As good as what he was in the finals campaign last year, but no one really went after him.

“He is the leader, don’t worry about that.

“Dustin’s the one who clicks the turnstiles but Trent Cotchin is the absolute leader of that football club.

“If you can take the leader down, sometimes it has an impact.”

Richmond will look to continue their good form in the huge Anzac Day eve match this Tuesday night at the MCG against Melbourne. You can listen to the game live on 1116 SEN from 6:00pm with Anthony Hudson, Stephen Quartermain, Terry Wallace, Adam Cooney and Abbey Holmes.
