Richmond midfielder Josh Caddy has confirmed the controversial score review early in the game was in fact correctly assessed.
A Richmond shot was deemed a goal by the goal umpire, but reviewed and overturned to the surprise of the crowd and commentators.
While the replays were focusing on whether the ball was touched on the goal line, where it seemed the ball had crossed the line, Caddy said it was in fact touched off the boot.
“Yeah, it was actually touched off the boot,” Caddy told AFL Nation post-game.
“Pretty obviously. Yeah, on the screen they only kept showing the replay of the goal line, but it was actually touched off the boot.
“I knew straight away that it was touched off the boot so I was sort of letting the boys know.
“Not sure how they went about reviewing it, but definitely the right decision.”
Caddy kicked four goals, including two in the last quarter to help get the Tigers over the line.
