I want to stay at Melbourne: McDonald

2018-04-30T19:15+10:00

Melbourne utility Tom McDonald has pledged his commitment to the Demons, saying he wants to stay with the club.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but has confirmed negotiations have begun and he wants to stay in the red and the blue.

“I’d love to. I’d love to get a contract done to stay at the Demons,” McDonald told SEN’s Time On.

“We have had some good little discussions with the footy club.

“My manager has spoken to the club and they’ve had one or two preliminary chats, and I think it could be even on email. It’s very early stages and then it takes a week to email someone back and go back and forth.

“It’s a slow process. We have started some sort of negotiation.

“It would be good to have something sorted out but I also wanted to come back and start playing footy, and the club probably wanted me to play to see some form as a forward in a new role.”

McDonald returned to Melbourne’s line-up from injury in the weekend’s win over Essendon, where he kicked two goals and amassed 16-disposals.
