Murphy, Curnow, Weitering and Marchbank could bolster Blues

While Carlton will lose Levi Casboult for a month, they could get three massive names back for their clash with Essendon this week in Marc Murphy (foot), Charlie Curnow (ankle) and Caleb Marchbank (ankle).

Of the three, Marchbank is the least likely to get up, while it appears Murphy will be named.

Jacob Weitering dominated in the VFL on the weekend in his return from a quad injury and seems likely to return.

Four GWS players a chance if they get through main session

GWS seems likely to regain ruckman Rory Lobb after missing with a knee injury which will give them a much needed boost in there.

Josh Kelly (groin), Rory Lobb (knee), Jeremy Cameron (toe) and Brett Deledio (hamstring) have all missed in recent weeks.

Deledio is least likely to get up, while Lobb and Cameron are likely.

Walker and Sloane in the mix

Adelaide could regain the services of their captain and vice-captain for this weekend as well as potentially Riley Knight and Kyle Hartigan (hamstring).

Skipper Taylor Walker (hamstring) and star midfielder Rory Sloane (foot) have missed periods of time and seem likely to play this weekend.

Toby Nankervis to miss?

Sources have suggested that the Tigers may rest ruckman Toby Nankervis. If that is the case, Ivan Soldo will step into the side to take on Kangaroos big man Todd Goldstein.

Could Richmond be preparing 'The Nank' for their big clash with West Coast and Nic Naitanui?

Dion Prestia remains doubtful for the clash against North after pulling up sore in the calf region, while skipper Trent Cotchin looks likely to return after missing the Fremantle game with a knee complaint.

Gary Ablett is back, but Harry Taylor?

Geelong may get both Gary Ablett (hamstring) and Harry Taylor (foot) back from injury this weekend.

Ablett was close last weekend, but is all but certain to return this weekend.

Taylor will also play, but whether he returns via the VFL or the seniors is yet unclear.

Steven May expected to return

Gold Coast captain Steven May missed last week’s clash with the Western Bulldogs after an infection in his broken finger.

He didn’t make the trip to Ballarat, but should be back this weekend for the Suns' first home game in Queensland this year against Melbourne.

Pendlebury still in doubt

Collingwood received a huge boost with Scott Pendlebury’s ankle injury not as serious as first though.

Sunday’s clash against Geelong might come too soon for the Pies’ skipper as he continues to make a full recovery.

Daniel Wells is a chance for a recall after some good form in the VFL while Ben Reid, Brayden Maynard and Tom Langdon will all miss a further week.

Gun forward Jamie Elliot will make his long awaited return to footy this weekend via the VFL.

Orazio Fantasia and Jack Viney strong chances after VFL form

Essendon livewire Orazio Fantasia played a half a football in the VFL last weekend and the Bombers are confident he can return for their match against Carlton if he can get through training this week.

Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney will return to football this week through the VFL and isn’t far away from returning to the senior side after suffering a foot injury.

Sam Powell-Pepper and Tom Rockliff available for selection

Port Adelaide midfield duo Sam Powell-Pepper and Tom Rockliff are both available for Saturday’s Showdown against rivals Adelaide.

Chad Wingard is an outside chance to feature with the club continuing to monitor the hamstring injury he sustained against West Coast.
