Former two-time All-Australian player David King believes Collingwood’s next month will play a big role in whether they’ll make finals this season.
King said the Pies need to get back to what was working earlier in the season.
“(The loss has) been coming I reckon. I reckon they’ve gone away from what was so good in the first month,” he told SEN’s Whateley.
“I think we were over the top in our praise for the first month and probably haven’t assessed their last month with a fine-toothed comb.
“The reality is they’ve beaten Adelaide in Adelaide which was a great win, Brodie Grundy probably got them that win.
“They’ve also beaten 18th (Brisbane), 17th (Carlton) and 15th (Essendon), if you want to be brutal about it.
“They’re playing a different brand to last year and it’s far more competitive, but that’s the reality, we need to learn more about Collingwood over the next few weeks.”
Forward Darcy Moore re-injured his hamstring injury on the weekend and King said the out of contract 22-year-old’s value is still up the air.
“Darcy Moore, we haven’t seen the best of him, he hasn’t ever had a clear run at things and he probably hasn’t been great as a forward when he did.”
“He’s probably wanting to have four to six weeks on a wing or as a roaming half back, not necessarily as a key post, so we haven’t seen the best of him.”
“The next discussions is what’s he worth, what’s it cost Collingwood to keep him?”
The Pies will take on the 16th placed St Kilda this weekend at Etihad Stadium.
